Flu like symptoms from Injection

Hi
I'm on my third week of Mounjaro and it's going relatively well, except after each dose I fell like I have flu and am sick for days after.
It doesn't sound like a common side effect.
I'm wondering if anyone else fells this way?
I'm sick of being sick!

When you say 'sick', do you mean sick as in vomiting or feeling nauseous, or sick as in just achey and fluey?

Holyjebus · 10/02/2026 08:13

Just achy and fluey. No nausea or diarrohea.

How long do you feel unwell for? For a few hours after injecting or every day. How much weight do you have to lose?

What are you eating? Are you eating high carb and fatty foods? Try eating mostly low carb and low fat foods for a week (e.g. soups and salads) and see if it makes any difference. If I eat fatty food like chips or the skin on the chicken, it makes me feel sick.

Finally, a few people don’t tolerate MJ very well so this could be you?

Thanks for replying.
It lasts the whole week :(
I've basically been feeling shit for the past two weeks, now going into my third.
Maybe it's just a coincidence and I've caught a winter bug.
Just wondered if anyone else was feeling this way.

I'm about to pack it in for this reason kind of

It might be exhaustion it might be that I feel really down on it, but I just feel unwell on it all the time

I kept thinking I'd caught a bug as well

I've talked about it on here, but honestly, I haven't written down a quarter of what I felt

Just telling you because you don't want to spend as much money as I did and fine that you can't take it

Have you talked to your provider? Some people do find these problems go away. Sadly, I wasn't one of them.

I don't have those symptoms, but I am extremely cold and my nose runs the colder I get. I've been on it for 9 months and this feeling of being cold and runny nose has been there pretty much after pen 5mg plus.

I felt that way at first - probably the first 3-4 days the first week, then 2-3 days after the second injection, and gradually less. I also felt much colder than usual (normally run quite warm).

However, otherwise I felt really well - full of energy, happier, really great. It might just be your body adjusting to the medication. But if it carries on I would be inclined to stop, as it's not suiting you.

Hi op. Yes, I did (and still do sometimes) get this. I seem more susceptible to it the days after taking the jab, and it tends to ease up later on in the week. I notice it creeping up when I start to feel tired, so it seems directly related to energy levels with me. So for example, I don't seem to get it at weekends, which is the end of the jab week for me, but also I don't need to get up so early and do so much physical activity as on week days. Eating tends to improve it a bit, as does having a rest in bed for a short while. I don't know if it's related to the medicine itself, or as a result of eating in a calorie deficit, whilst also spending lots of energy. Or both!

I have been on MJ for 6 months and have lost 3 stone. I've stayed on 2.5 mg the whole time.
