Do I need photo I.D to get WLI online?

I’ve been looking in to getting wli (most likely Wegovy due to cost) for a while now. I managed to go and see my doctor at the beginning of the week to check if there was any reason I shouldn’t start on them, and was given the go ahead. The doctor ordered blood tests to get a baseline reading before starting, I’m going for them today. So great, I thought I was all prepared. Then it just hit me that the online pharmacists probably want some form of current i.d. I don’t have any! 😳

I’ve had a chronic illness since my early 20’s, I’m now 48 and over the last 20+yrs I became increasingly housebound. I would go days, weeks without going outside. Life completely passed me by. This means I never learned to drive, so no drivers license, and I don’t have a valid passport.

I’m not even sure how I would get valid i.d if I needed to. After years of being stuck in the house on my own, I have panic attacks in places with too many people or somewhere I don’t know. I’m basically a basket case. 😂 I hadn’t been to the doctors’ in about 10yrs.

Anyway, please tell me am I going to need photo i.d to get these injections?

Yes you will. You can apply for a provisional driving licence online and that will be your ID, it's easy

I did have a provisional license many years ago, so it would be a renewal rather than a brand new provisional license. To renew it they are going to need some of the details off of it and God knows where I put it. I’ve got it somewhere, I swear I saw it a few months ago, it’ll just be finding it that’s the problem. 😂

At least these days I don’t need to go out and find one of those wee photo booths, normally in supermarkets and train stations, that you needed to get your pictures taken in. 😂

Years ago when I bought ozempic (semaglutide so the same drug as wegovy) I was asked for photo ID but buying mounjaro over the past year I have never been asked at all.
Also, and I appreciate this isn’t the point of your post, I would strongly suggest reconsidering mounjaro instead of wegovy because it is much more effective.
It might cost more per month but you would get better results so cash per pound of weight lost it is actually cheaper.

OP, it’s important to have photo id for all kinds of things so see this as a motivation to get it sorted. Sounds like the provisional driving license will be easy to renew. I might even apply for a passport after that if I were you.

I agree. You can’t even vote without photo ID anymore. I would get a passport now, just in case the process becomes more difficult in the future. I know it’s not cheap but over its validity period it’s less than £9 a year.

Aaaarrrgh! Can’t find my old provisional anywhere I thought it might be. Found my old passport I got in 1995, all my old matriculation cards from uni, as well as hundreds of paper bank statements dating back twenty odd years that need shredding, but no license! I’ll need to try looking again over the weekend. Hopefully it’ll turn up somewhere.

Just apply for a provisional, it’s no biggie and it will need to be current.

Mounjaro would be our choice, but it’s my Mum paying for us both (her idea, she really wants to do this for us both). If it was just one person she could afford mounjaro, but paying double those amounts every month would just be too much. I’m on disability and unfortunately just don’t have any money to spare to put towards it.

I’m planning on getting that as well, but not sure if the pharmacy’s would accept it or if it had to be a drivers license or passport.

Unfortunately since I already have a provisional (it’s just out of date) I can’t apply for a completely new one. The DVLA already has my information on their system, so it has to be a renewal of the old one. Which means I need the details from the old license.

Don’t you just hate it when you put something somewhere safe and then can’t find it. 😣

Op, gently you’re making a way bigger deal than this is. It costs 2o quid to replace a lost provisional on line and comes quite quickly. You don’t need the old one.

You are massively over complicating. Just tick the ‘lost’ box. It’s not at all uncommon to be in your situation.
