Hello all, anyone restarting and want to join me?
I did Mj very slowly on the lowest dose for a year (on and off) and lost 3 st. I’ve now been off it for 10 months and have slowly crept up with Christmas pushing me to nearly a stone back on eek!
so today I’ve bit the bullet and restarted on 2.5mg. Hoping for a smooth journey!

Yes please. I will join. I started on 1st April last year - moved up the dose each month (don’t think I will this time) - lost 3 stone but couldn’t shift the last stone (was stuck at BMI 27 for 3 months - but was happy enough with how I looked etc size 10).

Was asked to come off it for surgery for recent cancer diagnosis - and I have piled on a stone in a month. I have been comfort eating and drinking - so no surprises - but have just decided today that I would be devastated if after my radiation treatment I was back to where I started. I was transformed emotionally with the weight loss. So I will join you. I have a 10 in the fridge so will click out a 2.5. I stopped for a bit before - couple of weeks off and the SE (dreadful diarrhoea) were much worse than when I first started. Maybe I will wait until after the radiation in 2 weeks as need to keep still for that and couldn’t cope with an explosive arse. Just marking my place. With you

Yes, time it so you are being gentle on yourself during treatment. I will be here for a while!

How have you found being back on? Is it working in a similar way to last time?

OP posts:

Did your providers prescribe at a bmi lower than 27?after the break?

Jessie4343 · 05/02/2026 14:36

I think we have both put on weight and gone back over 30

No I had stockpiled mine - didn’t take a break from providers.

Its much harder imo, the weight isn't coming off as easily so I am only going to do one month more on 5mg and then try and maintain on my own

Jessie4343 · 05/02/2026 15:13

I have an old 7.5mg pen in fridge which I am using. I’m going to use 2.5 a time for a few weeks.

Oh no! That’s a bummer

Possibly it’s because starting weight and amount to lose is less? I was also at a plateau around the bmi 27 mark but wasn’t in the right head space to increase and push through

Yes I think this is the case, which obviously isn't a bad thing
I have since changed jobs from when I was last on it so my step count isn't as high, still around the 17k mark but last year I was doing 20-24k a day! So it just seemed to fall off
I had gained 10kg back in 3 months!! Tho this was my fault, I wasn't eating the right stuff
So I am happier to be back on it, tho I have no appetite suppression so it feels almost pointless
Was it just today you started back on it? 10 months off it feels so unimaginable for me but that is amazing you managed that, it shows you can do it again!

Jessie4343 · 05/02/2026 15:46

I must admit for the first few months I still felt some residual suppression or maybe just a new smaller stomach, it certainly didn’t pile back on or make me feel starving. It was very good for a long while. I have just really splurged over Xmas and January and piled it on. I think in my mind I knew I was going to go back on the mounjaro so was ‘quick quick’ eating all the nice things it’s a all or nothing mentality I have had for twenty years and fuelled partly by adhd so I am at peace with the ridiculousness of it.
yes I’ve literally started today

I will join too. Lost 2.5 stone last year (Aug - Oct) then had to stop due to medical treatment but now I’m going to start again.

How long do you think the MJ stays active for in the fridge in reality (rather than what the suppliers say)?

Choirgirl699 · 05/02/2026 16:21

I restarted 4 jabs ago! Stopped end of August when 3lb off my target due to price rise, had lost just shy of 3 stone. Put 8lb on very slowly so started again a few weeks ago. I only briefly got to 7.5mg.

I've found 2.5mg to be effective but different. Food noise has gone (thank goodness) but before it would take me a day to eat 1 square of dark chocolate as I had no interest at all whilst now I can eat a Penguin or similar. Happy just to eat one every so often but def different. Suppression is just as good as before so intend to stay on lowest dose forever.

So, this is with a 4.5 month break after being on MJ for 6 months.

I'm with Pharmulous who are brilliant with restarting at lower BMI and maintenance.

Edinburghdays · 05/02/2026 16:21

@ladygin unopened it lasts ages, obviously, opened I've used mine for a couple of months at least, maybe more sub dosing, I think it does degrade once opened and I'd be loath to restart a pen that had been open for months, even aside from the hygiene aspect.

Jessie4343 · 05/02/2026 16:27

I’m going to eek this pen out, it’s 7.5 so could get 15 weeks out of it technically but not sure whether that’s pushing my luck

This is imtereresting. First time round the 2.5 gave me huge suppression, so im

Oh gosh. I’d forgotten the side effects of going on the MJ! I feel so sick and sorry for myself.
