Gallstones - Refused Wegovy

I've been on WLI for over a year, no issues. Switched from mounjaro to wegovy in September due to price rises. No issues. Lost 6 stones so far, another 1-2 to go. MedExpress have turned around now and said I can't have it anymore because there is a note on my file about gallstones in 2020. I've had no issues since then, and no issues with the WLI. Can I get it from somewhere else, or is this a new blanket ban? They have said I can have it if I provide evidence I've had my gallbladder removed. But I don't really want or need surgery!

You wouldnt get it taken out anyway unless you pay privately, if its not causing problems they dont want to know.

Could you get another scan done, even if private, because theres a possibility you dont have gallstones any more.

Go to a different provider. Med Express are very risk averse.

Thank you. Any idea which provider will prescribe with history of gallstones? (asymptomatic)

I'm on Mounjaro and have gallstones which have not caused any issues.
My provider is Oushk, and I informed them when completing my initial assessment. I also let them know I'd discussed with my GP beforehand.

For anyone else, I switched to Oushk and was prescribed Wegovy with no problem!

Glad you got sorted out. The licence recommends waiting for 3 months after gallstones episodes, but six years seems quite excessive.

I was on wygovy and it caused acute choleystitis and ended up having emergency surgery. I'd have never gone on it if I'd known the risk. 2 weeks in hospital. Horrible experience.
