After a false start in 2024 where I ended up with severely loose stools due to poor diet choices, I went back on MJ this time last year and stayed on 2.5 until October , give or take a couple of weeks in the summer. I lost 2 stone but it felt sustainable and consistent. I wasn’t depriving myself but felt much more in control. Around the end of the summer I also started enjoying a wee glass or two of wine in the evening time , plus a few more at weekends. I’m not sure what triggered this but it became a bit of a habit! This was totally new to me as previously only drank alcohol on special occasions , maybe 3 times a year.

I took my last injection in October. At the beginning of November I began to experience a pain in my right abdomen which was worst overnight and waking me from time to time. I saw the GP who did bloods which showed a slightly raised amylase level indicating possible inflamed pancreas. He suggested I stop taking the MJ( which I already had) and has referred for an ultrasound. He was very anti weight loss injections from the outset. I tried to explain I have had a real difficulty in losing weight since having my gallbladder out 20 years ago , genuinely feels like I have an imbalance of some sort !
my thoughts are that the pain was more likely the alcohol than the MJ given it started to be a problem after I had taken the last injection. I haven’t had a drink since Christmas and have not had any of the pain again.
However I am really struggling to lose weight , I am calorie counting and exercising as much as I was on the MJ but nothing is shifting. I have lost and gained the same 4lb over and over since the start of the month!
I am still waiting for the scan however really really want to try again with the mounjaro. Would this be a ridiculous idea ? Am I asking for trouble ?!

Should add for context I stopped in October due to the rising costs in the run up to Christmas ! I always planned to start again in new year as have approx 2-3 stone still to lose

I would but I'd be very cautious and keeping a close eye on my body.

I would certainly wait for the ultrasound and the outcomes of that. I would want to be certain that there was no pancreatitis or other issue going on. In the meantime I’d carry on as you are with calorie counting and exercising. You are at least maintaining your weight, eating healthily (hopefully) and exercising. All of those things will benefit you even if you don’t lose much weight. Although you might find that it all starts to shift soon, if you are able to keep up with it all.

Thank you , I think the sensible thing is to wait for the ultrasound then re start. But I am itching to start losing weight again! Thanks

You say you've gained and lost the same 4lb

That shows you can lose it

I'm stopping after three months because the side-effects are just too awful. I haven't lost much on it anyway.

I know older people who lost weight and kept it off before this stuff was ever invented - so we can do it! With your current health situation, I wouldn't try it.
