Hi,

I started my journey in September 2025.

I’ve lost weight - which is great, but I need to lose another 2 stone.

I’m on 7.5mg - It is my third jab, but today I just feel awful. Headache, stomach ache, sulphur burps. I feel rotten. Can’t eat or drink.

I have to work, I can’t take time off.

I want to just go to bed and sleep.

I’m dreading my jab next week.

Should I go down a dose for the next pen? Any ideas what I should do?

Thank you 🫩

What are you eating?

letshavetea · 29/01/2026 14:45

This is the time to phone your pharmacist and have a consultation. I had to titrate up very slowly through the doses (due to nausea, headaches, constipation and indigestion. . It took me 6 weeks each time to reach the next level. If it was me I’d go down to 5mg and take it v slowly if you go up again eventually, but if definitely want advice. I’d drink lots of water, eat protein, fruit and veg and things like Greek yogurt. Good luck.

Have you gone up the doses because lower doses weren't working? Or simply because your provider told you to, I never went above 5,and even that was too much the one time I took it, so I took 3.75 for a couple of months, before coming back down to 2.5, I lost 5 stone plus on these doses, so first of all I would say don't just slavishly go up doses, if you do have to counter side effects I recommend will powders glp 1 ginger supplement, and or pepto bismol.

What are you eating?

I tend to eat fruit and drink tea. Today I had tea with go ahead bar. Kiwi and grapes.

Yesterday, very similar but salad and chicken for dinner.

I am with rightangled. I was on 2.5mg for 2 months, then 5mg for two month but near the end there wasn’t much suppression and I felt hungry so 7.5mg was the next step. This is my second month of 7.5mg but I feel particularly terrible, especially the next few days after the jab.

I spoke to a GP friend and she was advising to go up to 10mg and not stop completely as that would make it harder when I restart.

I might consider going down to 5mg next month to see how I’m feeling.

Just feel angry that losing weight is such an obstacle and sometimes think I should have been able to lose without jabs.

Yes, I went up as suppression wasn’t working.

But might consider going down for the next month and see how I feel.

The sulphur burps though 🤢

What do the powders do??

You are not eating properly, that will be the reason for your side effects.

Feeling hungry is normal, you have gone too far to chase the suppression and as a result are suffering the side effects due to barely eating.

Hghlandlooo · 29/01/2026 18:48

I think you have to give each dose plenty of time. I’ve had periods where I’ve felt hungry and thought the jabs were not working but still managed to lose a lb or 2 a week over several months.

AnonymousAnnie55 · 29/01/2026 18:58

I’m only on week two and feeling bad side effects today and yesterday since injecting on Tuesday night. I equally can’t just stop working- but I was so cold today I just had to get in bed to work! I also think I’m not eating enough, but can’t eat when I feel so awful!

Overtheatlantic · 29/01/2026 19:05

I would go down to 6mg and start eating protein and loads of water. Breakfast could be a scrambled egg, lunch tuna mayo with lettuce and tomato, dinner a chicken breast and mixed vegetables. Snacks can be fruit and nuts. And water, water, water.

Ineedanewsofa · 29/01/2026 19:12

Agree with PP - chasing suppression up the doses is a fool’s errand, you will eventually be hungry whatever dose you are on BUT you should still feel fuller on less food and have less noise/craving on the right dose.
Drop back down and see how you get on bit please don’t be afraid of being hungry, that doesn’t mean it isn’t working

SexyFrenchDepression · 29/01/2026 19:21

You definitely need to look at what you're eating, fruit, tea and salad is not what you need. Obviously the chicken is good.

Protein should be 1-1.5g per kg of your weight. Maybe use MyFitnessPal or something to track. If i dont eat well I definitely get more side effects and the tiredness is horrendous.

I went back down from 3.75 to 2.5mg as I wasnt feeling great, I definitely get hungry near mealtimes but I dont want to eat crap and I am full quickly. Its good to feel hungry as it means you'll eat well.

Calculate your TDEE and take 250 cals off for each half lb you want to lose.

I was BMI 28 when I started on 1st Nov. I am now BMI 23.8 after losing 32lbs. I lost nearly 6lb 1st first week then have averaged 2lbish a week since.

Try to prioritise protein, I found it helped lots. I switched to clear whey as it gave me some nutrients but I could stomach it more than milky protein shakes. Then tried to have savoury food like scrambled eggs on brown toast, or marmite protein snacks (they totally stopped the nausea, just a handful now and then). Little and often is definitely best if you feel awful. I swigged peptobismol and ginger tea also.

The nausea did go by week 4 and only came back when I went up from 2.5 to 3.75. Week 1 tiredness was horrendous but that got better gradually especially once I started eating well (was only managing 500/600 cals 1st week as felt awful)

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 29/01/2026 19:36

I will go down to 5mg next month. Thank you all for your support. I feel better knowing I can go down and hopefully the side effects will ease. I just feel too sick to be able to eat anything.

I used to enjoy chicken/meat/fish but feel like I have gone off it….

I will try to drink more water too but even with water I feel “full” and heavy.

I am curious as i have encountered similar issues going up to 7.5 , my first one of that dose and i wondered if you had any issues with the other 2 doses or just this one.
i will continue with the 7.5 to finish it as the symptoms settled down muchly after 3 days,i started feeling hungry again and feeling like i wanted to try to eat. It is said that the first 7-10 days can also be felt but overall its because its doing its job.
I am thinking of delaying the 2nd dose, and not doing it on sunday but moving it to later that week which the guidlines allow, but its stated this shouldnt restart any symptoms. I have to be clear headed mon-wed so i dont want to take the risk of feeling the side effects then.
Am hoping that its all ok the rest of the dosages so i can stay on this for a few month before it stops being so effective
