Anyone switched from Mounjaro to Wegovy?

I'm on 7.5mg of Mounjaro, with Oushk and it costs £250 a month. I believe the equivalent dose of Wegovy is 1mg and it costs over £100 less.

My weight loss is slow, and I did have some bad gastro side effects when moving up MJ doses so I've always done it quite cautiously. Obviously no one can predict whether I'll have side effects on Wegovy or not, but my worry is whether it will be less effective. I know we're all different, but I'm interested in anyone's experience of doing this? Has it worked out ok? Or do you wish you hadn't bothered?!

Wegovy has been utterly useless for me compared to Mounjaro plus I had more side effects.

That said everyone is different.

Good luck xx

I’m considering the same OP so watching this thread if you don’t mind!

I ve had few side effects on MJ but stalling at 7.5mg and the price is horrendous and I want to stay on WLI for the next 12 months.

I lost my weight on MJ and switched to WG for maintenance due to cost. It's been fine, slightly different in some ways but oddly enough the suppression lasts longer on WG. I was on 5mg of MJ, now on 0.5 WG. Maintaining only.

Thanks! I still have two stone to lose and the more I read the more I think this might be my approach - to switch over at maintenance but not before.

Good idea. You might feel more in control doing that as well.

I'm probably going to move over.

I got up to 15mg and tried to go down doses due to costs but have gained weight. So once I'm down to last MJ pen I will look into moving over to wegovy. Hoping it helps me to maintain and lose.

Same for me.
didn’t lose anything on Wegovy and 25kg on Mounjaro so far.
terrible headaches on Wegovy

Just moving from MJ to Wegovy , cost being the decision. Hoping for no nasty side affects!

Megsdaughter · 26/01/2026 23:57

I swapped from MJ to Wegovey back in September.
Went from 7.5 MJ to 0.5 Wegovey and stayed static. Went up to 1.0 and went back to losing 2lb a week. I have less side effects on Wegovey. Used to have nausea on MJ.

I get mine from Swift Doctor and its only £99. Wish I had started on it.

I switched around November I think it was, was on 15mg MJ and switched to 1.7mg wgvy. Progressed up to 2.4mg and have now ordered 7.2 which comes as 3 x 2.4mg pens, which I plan to take as 4.8mg..if that makes sense! I am near the end of my weight loss, I have about half a stone to lose to get to target. So my weigh loss on wgvy has been slow but probably as I’m near the end of my journey. I lost the majority on MJ. But since being on wgvy I’ve lost on average 0.5-1lb a week.

It’s not just a different name it’s a different medication and mounjaro is the most effective one. If you’re getting side effects on it then look at your diet which you should have changed anyway 🤷‍♀️ if you’re eating fatty crap food then you will have side effects

quicknamechange234 · 29/01/2026 14:47

I switched from 12.5mg mj to 1mg wegovy and havent lost, ive gone up to 1.7mg but if that doesnt help then I will go back to MJ.

My friend however switched, she was much earlier on in her journey, and she has had the same losses on wegovy.

So I would say its worth a try.

Something to keep in mind, I was able to switch for a like for like wegovy dose but now I want to switch back possibly, im being told I have to go back to 2.5mg MJ.

quicknamechange234 · 29/01/2026 14:47

Also for me, I have far more side effects on wegovy, so even if losses were similar, that is making me also consider the switch back.
