Mounjaro to Wegovy then back to MJ

Hi 👋 aware that people have posted about this before but couldn’t find recent threads.

So for those of us who switched to Wegovy following the price hike in September then back to MJ- how are you getting on?

For context, I lost 3.5st on MJ from January to September last year. Lost another 7lbs on the highest dose of Wegovy but that’s been over 4 months. Still have 3st until my goal.

Really tried to give it my best shot and stick with Wegovy alongside calorie deficit etc but I’m at the end of the road now, don’t want to waste any more money as it’s clearly not effective for me and have a MJ pen ready to go to continue my journey.

Just wondered if there was anyone out there having any success with their second round of MJ on a lower dose 🙏

I used two Wegovy pens and put a few pounds on but it was the constant thoughts of food and the return of anxiety as well. Started back on MJ last week and already lost 4lb. Feel happy again, now thinking much more long term.

I was prescribed MJ by my GP then funding meant I was moved onto ozempic. I have found my joints are aching and I have awful nausea now. My period returned on MJ and has now seemingly stopped again (pcos). I have just been told by the GP that I have been approved for MJ again under a 2 year weight loss trial so I will know in a couple of weeks! I can not wait to get back on MJ

I have found the same! I think there is definitely suppression going on for me with Wegovy BUT I’m wanting to snack a lot more with it and also the sugar’s crept back in- biscuits with a cuppa etc! Literally had no interest on MJ. Did you start back on a lower dose? My pen is 2.5mg, I previously got up to 12.5mg but found I didn’t want to eat at all with that. 10mg seemed to be the best for me.

Yes exactly the same! Still wanted smaller portions but I was constantly thinking what’s next, couldn’t have a cuppa without a biscuit, wanting to pop to the shop for a treat. Awful! So nice to be back to forgetting about sugar.
Started back on 5mg, which is what I had been on a while for maintenance.

Ahh I don’t blame you, sounds like MJ worked well for you. I have thyroid issues and definitely felt I had less inflammation when taking MJ, despite eating pretty much the same!

I lost weight on Mounjaro but I couldn't afford to keep going after the price hike.

I had a break of a few months then started on Wegovy and it's just useless, it's having absolutely no effect at all. I'm coming to the end of my 3 month subscription but I'm just going to cancel. I can't keep throwing money at it when it's not working. I'm praying that there will be an affordable Mounjaro equivalent soon.

MJ July 2024 until Sept 25. I was on 15mg for 3 months towards the end but was always a slow loser (3lb per month). Went on WG 1.7 then 2.4 and gained half a stone so started back on MJ 5mg for last 2 months, but haven’t lost anything. I’ve just ordered 7.5mg. It’s so expensive for something that is so ineffective now 😞

I’ve started weight training in these last 2 months, working with a PT with nutritional advice. I am constantly thinking about, planning and counting food. It’s such hard work. I feel like coming off altogether and seeing if I can do it on my own but I do feel worried about further rebound weight gain

I felt exactly the same. I’ve been doing some more reading on it. I knew that MJ is a dual agonist but in simple terms- Wegovy can help with the satiety with meals etc but not really with the pleasure and reward aspect of food. Makes so much sense now as I have generally stuck to eating well with my meals but definitely craved the sugar which I just didn’t when taking MJ!

Just jabbed my first MJ dose of 2.5mg tonight. Not exactly hopeful as I was previously on 10mg but hopefully I’ll build it back up 🙈 if it just takes away some sugar and food noise for the moment I’ll be happy!

Similar journey here. I lost 3 stone on MJ, switched to Wegovy, might as well have been injecting water, then straight back to MJ.

It's better for me to 'do' MJ every 3 months, than Wegovy more often, if that makes sense.

I've got a 5mg pen of Weg in the fridge, that I feel annoyed about whenever I see it. It's a complete waste of money.

Wegovy is awful! It made me vomit uncontrollably for 48 hours straight. No more.
