Anyone else had issues with Med Express suddenty going back years into your medical history?

I've been with Med Express since July 2024 and have lost 7 stone. Have 3-4 more to lose. Been with them throughout.

Out of the blue today they have refused to prescribe mounjaro because I had an investigation for gallstones in 2008. I don't have gallstones and have had no issues since then. They have known this since the start of my treatment.

Why are they suddenly refusing to prescribe? I'm now scrabbling around trying to get another provider to move across to on 15mg.

Was there any question asking whether you had had any investigations for gallbladder issues in the past? And you had said “no”?

petitpasta · 17/01/2026 17:22

No, I was asked if I had gallstones and said no - I don't. The investigation was described as 'inconclusive' - in 2009. If I had them I'm pretty sure I'd have symptoms!

Ok so “inconclusive” will be the concern.

Did you get any diagnosis for the symptoms that caused you to need these investigations?

petitpasta · 17/01/2026 17:27

GP said it was possibly a muscle spasm. I literally haven't had any symptoms for 17 years.

So no firm diagnosis of anything

That’s the reason even.

Inconclusive. You need the investigations to have said no evidence of gall stones

They refused me a couple of weeks ago for having been on gliclizide in the past and currently on empagliflozin, both type 2 diabetes meds that are monitored by my GP. It was out of the blue as they didn’t have any issue with those meds before. I switched to Cloud Pharmacy, and they were fine.

That's helpful thanks. This is out of the blue too. I'm not sure what I can do about a test results that's 17 years old but it's good to know that other providers are more pragmatic.

A friend had the same thing with medexpress suddenly having a problem due to history of gallstones, she sent some more information to them confirming the issue was many years ago and no issues since and they have continued to prescribe.

How did they even access this?
