Opinions on Wegovy

Heyyyy
Been lurking again for ages.

I am currently on a diet but the food noise is insane and driving me crazy.

Does wegovy quieten the food noise?

I see more posts about mounjaro but its alot more expensive. Is there a reason why it seems to be more popular than Wegovy?

If you google comparisons between the two (Asda has a good article on them) Mounjaro, which targets both GLP1 and GIP hormones, in trials, was more effective and had less side effects. So most people were attracted to Mounjaro.

That was until the massive Trump influenced UK price hike in September (I think maybe August), where higher doses of Mounjaro became unaffordable for many.

Wegovy, which targets GLP1 only, is still an effective medication for many. If I was just starting out I would be tempted by it, but as Mounjaro is working for me on an affordable low dose I have no reason to change!

It took it away the first week and now in the third week it's there but reduced and I can say no a lot. Keep in mind both make you feel fuller faster and for longer, so if either of them work on you you will eat less regardless. Im full after much smaller amounts of food.

A bit of food noise means an opportunity to learn to manage it. Im only on the lowest dose so can't say what it's like to be on a higher dose.

I'm only on week 2 but have found it has made a substantial difference to food noise. Granted, could be a placebo effect but normally when I'm on a diet I find myself thinking about food constantly and obsessively.

I do still get hungry on occasion, but rather than before where I would be craving crap, I'm satisfied with an apple or some chicken, and then it's done and I move on with my day.

Mealtimes I'm feeling full with a much smaller portion.

In terms of side effects, I had a day or two of mild nausea but that hasn't returned. I've been drinking plenty and snacking on fruit and cooked chicken

Weight loss of 8lbs so far.

Pleased with it so far but obviously very early days. It has made me realise how much headspace I was giving to food though. Like now when I think about what to have for tea, I don't really think about what I fancy, I just don't have a strong feeling about what I'd like to eat - which makes it a lot easier to make healthy choices obviously.

I've read (but no idea if this is true) that wegovy seems to work better for people who start on wegovy rather than people who switch from MJ.

My friend has switched from 15mg to 2.4mg wegovy, well she tried 1.7 first which she said was ok and then 2.4mg which she said kick started her suppression again and weight loss. Another friend has switched from 7.5mg to 1mg and says she can't finish her meals due to good suppression. I switched from 10mg to 1.7mg and its very strong suppression and satiety, stronger than mj. Done 2 pens on it and about to start my third and I've lost weight 3lbs on first pen to get to my goal of 9st. There are many that say its not as effective so it's a risk especially if you have high blood sugars, but its a lot cheaper and worth a try I'd say.

I’ve been on it 3 months and it definitely quietens the food noises plus I’m full much quicker. I also don’t want to drink alcohol.
