Clothes now too big.

What does everyone do with the big clothes now they’ve lost weight. Keep in case you put it back on? Charity bag? Charity shop? Sites where you can gift and people pick up? I’ve advertised on the various sites and had a lot of interest particularly with very plus sized items. However what do we do with underwear particularly knickers? Been binning as seems icky to do anything else but what a waste.🤷🏻‍♀️

Underwear can be sent to your local council's textile recycling scheme or put in a textiles recycling container eg at supermarkets. No need to bin them. They can be used for rags at the very least.

Other clothing I sell on eBay/Vinted or if it's not in good nick then it will also go in textile recycling.

Bin the knickers, put the clothes on Vinted and you can buy yourself some new clothes with the money you make.

We need a halfway house swap scheme on here! Nobody wears their size 16s for long when halfway between 18/20 and 10/12!

I sell mine and dhs on Vinted, if not good enough for there then charity shop (apart from knickers) then use the money from that to buy smaller clothes on Vinted. Good condition bras I sell too

I have been giving all my old clothes to a local children's hospice charity shop.

I cannot be bothered to put it on vinted as I have so many clothes after being the same size for over 30 years I just wanted it out of the house to make way for my new purchases in my current size

They are getting another 10 black bags full this week.

Underwear I have bagged up to put in the recycling bins.

I just donate mine. We seem to get charity bags posted every week where I am, so I just fill them up as and when. I cannot be arsed with Vinted or trying to sell on Facebook or anything, and I don't want to hold on to them just in case because having to fork out for a whole new fat wardrobe is just another incentive to stay on the weight loss train.

I gave mine to charity, and binned the underwear.

Thanks all good feedback. I am tempted by vinted as I have some expensive worn a very few times but also can’t be bothered as the majority while ok has been worn lots more. I’ve also never used vinted. I bought loads of new stuff before discovering items I had stored many years ago which were in ok condition which was annoying as they were fairly classic and I’d went down a size when I “found” them. Will definitely look to recycle knickers and bras as I have loads. Again thanks.

I’ve been thinking about this in terms of jewellery- my rings & watch have got really loose. Altering rings to be smaller is a big step isn’t it- like I definitely can’t put any weight back on then!! Tho tbh I did get my watch wrist strap extended last year as it was so tight.. nice to have the opposite issue now!

Kept mine as I have regained too many times in the past. Last time I put the weight back on I had to buy a load of new clothes in a rush. They are in the loft out of sight. After I have maintained for a couple of years I will dump them

Larger sizes are very popular in eBay or Vinted. Underwear - ragged or binned. Charity shops if in good condition.

You can get a ring size adjuster in a jewellers or on amazon. It is not permanent, it is either a metal or plastic clip.

Repurposed what I could, so for example some tops that I used to wear more fitted will now work as slouchy and tucked in. Then gave away.

I would put them in the loft incase you put it back on.

Getting rid of all my plus-size clothes was wonderfully cathartic and I found it quite liberating. I used to have bags and bags of clothes in the loft, in various sizes, that represented a lifetime of yo-yoing up and down. They are all now gone. I have a wardrobe of size 14 things that fit me now, and that's it.

If I ever end up a size 22 or 24 again, then I will buy new clothes. But thanks to these brilliant new medications, that isn't ever going to happen again.

Knickers are binned. Sell my nicer clothes thru a local shop selling second hand designer stuff. Rest of it goes to various charities I support.

I binned my pants. Everything else to the charity shop, I cba trying to sell stuff these days.

Charity shop for everything except knickers which I bin or send to rag collection. CBA with Vinted and if a charity benefits instead that’s fine. Not going back so not keeping big old clothes unless they are beltable/tuckable.

Hidden away somewhere in case I need them again! 🤦‍♀️

Your bras can be recycled at Bravissimo, John Lewis and various other charities as they’re shipped to developing countries.

Nice dresses and trousers or coats, Vinted. Everything else Charity shop, not worth the ag for £1.50 for a tired tshirt. I held on to stuff for ages but I’ve realised this is the new normal and can declutter.

I am getting rid of every single thing. All of it. No exceptions.

I started as a 24-26, I'm currently an 18 bottom and 16 top and still losing weight. In absolutely no circumstances am I getting to that size again.

Keeping the clothes feels like acceptance that I'll put all the weight back on.

Good brands are being sold on Vinted, inexpensive stuff is off to the charity shop along with any Vinted stuff that doesn't sell in a month, trashed items are going to the Fire Brigade clothes bin as it funds their charity.

I've even had to replace most of my shoes and boots!!

I wear mostly Popsy dresses and jumpsuits and had over a hundred! All mow several sizes too big 🙈. I'm currently in the process of selling them and buying ones which fit for now. Trying not to buy too many until I settle at my goal but am struggling with the fewer choices I have just now. 1st world problem, I know .
