I’ve been on Mounjaro for a few weeks on and off but really suffer with a bad stomach, resulting in me having to have time off work. Any suggestions?

Gastrointestinal side effects are common - constipation, diarrhoea, wind, nausea, sulphur burps to name a few.

which one do you have and what have you tried to manage it already?

I did at the start and it settled down (mounjaro). Try eating very plain foods and drinking plenty of water.

Diarrhoea and sulphur wind!
I hardly eat anything, avoid fizzy drinks and take gaviscon. Started on 2.5 and was fine, when I moved to 5mg

I found I had to avoid a lot of foods at the start.

Anything fatty, heavy on the dairy, anything rich, spicy or tomatoey. I don't eat meat but doubt my body would have liked that either. I lived on fish, brown rice and veg mostly. And still do, but I can now eat everything, it just took some time for my body to get used to the meds.

If you were ok on 2.5mg, you could go back down to that and stick with it for longer, letting your body get used to the medication for longer.

Yes it’s common and I find it comes and goes according to what I have eaten and drunk.
I can’t stomach any sort of alcohol or fizzy drinks (although tbf they didn’t agree with me before the weight loss injections really)
I’ve also found that pastry gives me stomach cramps and too much sugar gives me terrible indigestion.

I would agree with the suggestion above to stick to 2.5 for a bit longer, the jump from 2.5 to 5 ml has caused a few of my friends to have bad stomachs temporarily.

I’ve managed to lose 3 stone on 2.5 and am only just going up now so there may not be any need to rush that jump.

Also, keep a food and drink diary and try to work out what does and doesn’t agree with you. It’ll make for a much more comfortable weigh loss journey.
