Constipation on Mounjaro

Apologies for the subject matter but I have been on Mounjaro for 10 months and it’s been fab in the fact that I’ve lost 25kg (changed my diet and go to gym 4-5 times a week) but the number of normal bowel movements I’ve had in this time is not that many. I know this because I do a happy dance when it happens! I’ve taken to drinking prune juice, eating raisins and prunes but I’m finding it incredibly frustrating.

Fybogel, morning and night. Having tried many other suggestions this actually works for me.

GiveMeWordGames · 04/01/2026 20:40

Magnesium citrate, taken at night. It'll also help with sleep as a bonus.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 04/01/2026 20:41

Lactulose is the only thing that’s worked for me. I have to take it daily.

I’ve had a bit of constipation but I’ve always fluctuated between that and the opposite so I don’t think it’s been more pronounced since MJ. I just try and stay hydrated as much as possible (minimum of 2 litres of water a day), exercise in some capacity every day and eat a varied natural colourful diet, my first meal of the day is around midday and I try and make it a raw meal, salads as much as possible. It’s not always raw, I had soup today and will probs have leftover soup tomorrow because it’s there but Tuesday I’m back in the office and I’ll be taking a chickpea salad with a lot of raw veg.
and just accept that I’ll probably have a poo every 2-3 days or so. But as I say, I’ve always been this way.

I found dropping the dose a little and accepting a slower rate of weightloss helped the contstipation massively.
I had a 9lb baby, and have piles as a result, so I can't be dealing with constipation!!

Fybogel and Bisacodyl is all that works for me

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/01/2026 21:18

2lts water a day minimum, 2 psyllium husk capsules before main meal and green veg with every meal. I also drink lots of coffee which keeps you regular but not sure I should recommend it.

Is it the sachets? And does taking it twice a day keep you quite regular?

Thanks. I’m on 5 at the moment and it works for me except for this issue of course.

Thank you. I already take the Nutrigeeks Magnesium Glycinate 3-in-1 at the moment.

Try fresh kiwi with the skin on. Also try fybogel in a lozenge you can get them on amazon for convenience, especially if you don’t like the bitty texture of the sachets, also I found no side effects with lozenge’s (but felt bloated & windy on the sachets) if all fails you could ask the chemist or GP for stool softeners in sachets & drinking plenty of water always helps.

Agreed.
Lactulose is the best thing. You can buy it over the counter.

FurForksSake · 05/01/2026 23:19

Lactulose. You can get it from Amazon and it is the good type of constipation relief that doesn’t make your bowel lazy.

Senna tablets as well as magnesium before bed. Glycerine suppositories 😬
