What do people on the jabs recommend to help with disturbed sleep ? I wake up a lot around 2am and sometimes lie awake for about 3 hours, only started happening since starting on mounjaro.

Never had this side effect. So don’t know what to offer in the way of advice except to say it is probably entirely unrelated to the jab.. but coincidentally came along at the same time.. I’ve been on MJ for 23 months .. 14 to get from 15 stone to 9 and the rest of the time maintenance on 5mg.. however post menopausal insomnia had started just before that and I take amitriptyline prescribed by my GP and now sleep 8 hours like a log..

@Fishingboatbobbingnight . Thanks for your reply. The reason i thought it was connected to the jab was i think i remember a thread were a lot of posters suffered disturbed sleep but i may have been mistaken.

It was suggested to me to have a drink when I wake or someone else suggested a snack just before going to sleep.

However I've been taking 3mg melatonin. 6mg is better. Works better some nights more than others. Problem is, higher doses of melatonin can add to the constipation issues.

I had disturbed sleep on mounjaro from the first night for 2-3 weeks. Took me a little longer to drop off, was asleep for about 2-3 hours, then I would be awake for another 2, 3 or 4 hours. I looked haggard for the first couple of weeks due to the lack of sleep. I didn’t seem to have any other bad side effects besides the sleep problem. For the first pen (2.5mg) it always seemed worse the first couple of nights after an injection and mildly better towards the end of the week. I did read somewhere it could be to do with blood sugar dropping overnight but it never seemed to matter if I had or didn’t have a snack before bed. It settled down a bit by pen 2 (5mg). I came back down to 2.5mg for pen 3 as the appetite suppression was a bit too much for me at 5mg and I wasn’t eating enough. During pen 2 and now pen 3 I’m usually just an hour awake in the night. I wasn’t awake in the night like this before the WLI. It’s a minor inconvenience to me now and I just try and get to bed an hour earlier to try and compensate for it. I’m hoping to reach a normal BMI at the end of February, when I’ll gradually come off mounjaro and hopefully get back into a better sleep pattern.

I have been on the jabs for 12 months and have really vivid nightmares/dreams which often wake me.

Terfedout · 04/01/2026 22:57

Had the exact same issue myself. Eased off naturally after the first 4 or 5 weeks though 😊

I've always had disturbed sleep since having to come off my HRT. I listen to podcasts or audio books and that sends me back to sleep.
