Restarting Mounjaro.

Has anyone done this after a break? I was on 10mg back in August when the prices rose on 1st September. I’d lost 2.5 stone in 6 months at that point. Switched to wegovy because of the cost of mounjaro.

i ended up putting on half a stone in the2 months I was on wegovy. Didn’t see the point in continuing so came off it in November. I’ve put a further 4lb on since coming off the injections completely.

I’ve decided to restart on 2.5mg Mounjaro as I don’t want to put all the weight back on. I’m hoping I won’t have any side effects as I’ve already used it. Has anyone else gone back on after a break?

Im reconsidering it. I also stopped because of the price increase. Ive put some back on as i expected. Ive been under a lot of stress the past five months with something in my personal life and my diet has gone out the window. Im considering starting over and really going for it this time as i felt so good whilst on it (calmer and less bloated)

lostinchaos · 28/12/2025 21:23

What is your current weight? I technically no longer qualify due to having previously got down to target weight. But I too am keen to restart after gaining some of it back but am not sure how or where to go to request it.

MamaJenni · 28/12/2025 22:21

I was t at target weight when i ended. Id lost 2 st 9lbs. Im now 15st 7lbs so im still in obese

MamaJenni · 28/12/2025 22:22

Only thing i didnt like when on it was the amount of hairloss i had but i think that was down to poor diet. This time would be different

No disrespect but if you can't maintain the loss now how will you in the future?

GiantTeddyIsTired · 28/12/2025 22:35

I'm considering it too. I was fine for about 3 months, but now I'm waking up hungry, no longer feel full when I eat, and I've put 5kg on over the last month (to be fair, it's been an extremely high stress month too, but the difference is stark to when I was on MJ)

I'm considering microdosing so I could string a high dose pen out for longer.

I did, had 1 month MJ lost 13lbs with no side effects then changed to Wegovy for 2 months just maintained weight and had side effects. Switched back to MJ, have just finished first 2.5mg pen and have continued to maintain. Waiting on 5mg pen to arrive as felt no appetite suppression the last 4 weeks on 2.5mg. First time around I had no desire to snack but this time I have. Im not gaining weight though so I see that as a positive.

Tbf i get what your saying. However, i do feel determined to stick to it. MJ is expensive and i really want to get back to losing and keep it off. I know where ive gone wrong (stress is my trigger for emotional eating)

Following! Was incredibly overweight and numerous health issues. Dropped almost 5 stone in a year on MJ (unfortunately due to how overweight I was I still have 8 stone to lose) I’m going to weigh in tomorrow and see what damage has been done from the Christmas period and go from there. I’m going to try calorie counting alone initially as I can’t afford to restart just now anyway and if it becomes apparent I need the jabs again Feb - March time then I’ll do that I think. I also hated wegovy and found it useless!

Some people need to remain on these drugs

The hair loss is usually the result of relatively fast weight loss, not the drug.

What you’re considering is split dosing, which is taking a smaller dose from a larger pen. Microdosing is when you take a lower dose than 2.5mg.

Hi! I’m also considering restarting it. I lost over 4st on it last year, but stopped when I went on a month long holiday to the states and put a few lbs on then. I still had 2st to go if I wanted my target weight, but I was happy enough with where I was at.

I’ve had my birthday and Christmas, and have just gone nuts in the knowledge that I can go back on MJ in the new year. Not the best, but I’ve had a lovely time! So, I’m now almost a stone heavier than I was before the holiday.

I’m now very much considering going back on Mj. I was using IQ doctor last time, and found a code each month to knock money off. So I’m just trying to weigh up costs and who is best to go with, whether IQ still do monthly codes, or if I go with someone new and get a new patient discount.

Yes me! I also switched to wegovy due to the price hike and also because I felt like I was losing and gaining the same few lbs for several months. Had really bad nausea on wegovy and still didn’t lose more than those coup,e of lbs which I then put back on. So came off it last month and had a break before restarting mounjaro at 2.5mg yesterday. I only put on a couple of lbs while I was off the meds completely so pleased with that. Now hoping that a few months of mounjaro will get the last 2.5 stone off.

Hello,

stopped after 4.5 st over 7 months about 2st from goal on 12.5mg due to sudden change in personal circumstances . It was the right thing for me at the time .

stopped semi cold turkey halving doses over 3 doses/every 10 days. Maintained until 2 weeks after the last dose and ballooned almost 1st the following 4 weeks. Weight stabilised but decided I wanted to come back (always had the intention to)

9 weeks after last dose I restarted on 2.5 mg , lost 1lb first week (which I regained this week , Xmas LOL) . I’m due my third jab today

2.5 is nothing like the first time around although I have less food noise and not as much hunger for 2-3 days after jab, water retention remains. Hoping when I go up to 5mg in two weeks I will have more effect and feel fuller and start loosing again . I now have 3st to goal and will deffo tilter down slowly when reaching goal instead of going cold turkey as I have seen more having success then
