Feeling very cold

I’m 8 months into my Mounjaro journey and have reached goal! I’m 5’5” and weighing in at 8 stone 9lbs. I feel amazing. I’m moving to maintenance now.
The only negative is, that I seem to be always cold. The house thermostat always used to be set at 22 degrees, but now it’s 26 degrees and I still need a blanket. I’m cold at night. DH wasn’t feeling too well, so to avoid disturbing me, he slept downstairs. Without him in the bed I was a block of ice. Even where I was laying felt cold through the night. I’ve taken to carrying a portable heater about, or I’ll sit up against radiators.

Anyone else noticed that they are just freezing all of the time? Any advice?

Many thanks!

Hey. It comes up quite often here. I know it. Insulation from being a bit overweight has gone. Extra layers vital now. Also I get cold hands with white fingers sometimes. But on balance worth it.

Note. I've lost weight to just about target but still jab myself. So some all of it it may be a side effect of the jab not loss of installation.

DBatteryBand · 27/12/2025 10:56

I am always freezing these days, too. I have always been one of those boiling hot people who goes around opening windows, but I have lost 5 stone and really do feel the loss of insulation, particularly at night.

I wear lots of layers, a scarf and cashmere fingerless gloves around the house. Natural fibres like wool are more warming than polyester.

SantasBairyHollocks · 27/12/2025 11:01

I stopped taking Mounjaro two weeks ago after getting down to 10st. I am back to normal temperature after being freezing cold for months so think it might be the drug itself.

24kPalamino · 27/12/2025 11:22

Thanks all. I’m still injecting and planning to continue for another year at least. At least I know this is common and could be the drug itself by the sound of it. I’ll have to invest in warmer clothes. It is worth it…but I do hope summer rolls around sooner ☺️

I have this as well. It's definitely the drug.

Why would you continue for a year after reaching goal? Is it that set point theory?

SilenceInside · 27/12/2025 15:49

Heating the house to 26 degrees is going to be expensive! It’s probably more efficient to work on getting you warm whilst the house is at 22 degrees. I wear layers, thermal vest, cardigan/hoody, fluffy socks, fingerless wrist warmers etc. I have microwave heat pads and long hot water bottles as I find that even under blankets I don’t warm up unless I have a heat source as well. Blanket and duvet on the bed with aforementioned hot water bottles.

I have an oil filled electric radiator under my desk for working from home when I am sitting all day, it’s set to come on via a thermostat so I don’t get too cold before it comes on.

Apologies if you are already doing all of that!

morbidcuriosity · 27/12/2025 15:50

Omg. Yes cold all the time. I'm not losing weight now as at goal, but still cold. My heating bill annoys me but I budgeted for it. Only good thing about going to work is free heating! .
I have a heated throw at home, a heated gilet i wear and still feel it's not enough.

PopTheKettleOnx · 27/12/2025 15:50

I lost half my body weight with lifestyle changes - having PCOS I found going veggie and moving more helped shift the weight. Took a year to lose 8 stone, I have always hovered around 8/9stone since, apart from now I'm nearing 11 stone at the end of pregnancy.

I don't think this is a monjaro thing, as when I lost all the weight, that first winter I was always really cold! Always! Id come home and put my fluffy pyjamas on and have a hot water bottle on the go.

Until I was pregnant I was still the chilliest one in the house but nothing like that first winter after weight loss.

I think it's a weight/fat loss thing regardless of how you lose it but your body does adjust.

SilenceInside · 27/12/2025 15:52

@PopTheKettleOnx it is a Mounjaro thing independent of weight lost, as I was like this from very early on when I was still 20 stone plus. Very different and noticeable for me as I was always hot and sweaty before.

bignewprinz · 27/12/2025 15:56

I am BLOODY FREEZING. Sleeping in joggers, thermal top and woolly jumper this week.

Pre MJ I was always cold when hungry, and my guess now is that my body is not processing as much food, causing my core temp to drop slightly, especially at night.

Well, my gp said that it takes a year to two to change food habits completely, so he advised that I commit to taking the drug for that long. I haven’t got the drug through him, but I went for an MOT before starting it as I was nervous.

To be honest, although I do layer up, everything else feels like effort, so I don’t bother. I would just rather feel naturally warm. But you’re absolutely right. I will have to start adjusting what I’m doing; or I’m going to regret it when the bill comes in.
I will make an effort so thanks for the recommendations.

Yep nights are definitely the worst.

I used to go to bed cold, and then gradually heat up until I was really snug and warm!

Now I go to bed having warmed up in front of the radiator, and then gradually cool down until I wake up freezing! It’s really quite a noticeable difference!

I’m 5.3 and 9st. Once I hit this weight I really feel the cold. My husband has lost several stone this year and also feels the cold a lot more now. We’ve had to buy him a much bigger coat this winter and pyjamas. Neither of us have lost weight via injections. Being cold when you are thinner is just something to get used to

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 27/12/2025 17:58

Lost 5 and a half stone with another half stone to go. I have gone from hardly wearing a coat in winter to having to wear layers. My best buy this autumn was a heated throw

Mysticmaiden · 27/12/2025 19:09

It's definitely mj, I'm bmi 22.7, moved to wegovy and don't feel cold even though I'm still on low cals and losing weight. My friend who switched said the same.

unsync · 27/12/2025 19:35

I think it's both. Speaking to my naturally skinny friends, they say they are always cold in the winter. The worst bit for me is it has ruined swimming for me as I get too cold.

SilenceInside · 27/12/2025 19:42

Yes it can be both. The point is that it can be just the Mounjaro on its own - as it was, for example, happening to me when I was still morbidly obese at 20 plus stone. Normally at that weight I’d be hot all the time, whilst losing weight on Mounjaro I was cold.

I really appreciated the coldness during the summer heat wave as I could manage 30 plus degrees without raising any kind of a sweat. First time ever for me.

Actually now you mention it, we spent the summer in Florida and I found it very cool this year compared to previous years…but maybe it wasn’t!

I’m 10 months and 7.5st in and can still quite happily walk around in T-shirt sleeves, but my feet are like blocks of ice all the bloody time! Had to buy socks as I never normally wear them!

maz99 · 28/12/2025 10:23

Even before Mounjaro I've always felt colder, but now it's wose.

Another thread suggested heated throws and honestly I'm in love... I bought 3 of them in 2 weeks - one for bed, on the sofa and at my desk

ZenLikeAlways · 28/12/2025 10:30

I had to sleep with bed socks on the other night. Unheard of!

Slowrunning · 29/12/2025 08:10

I am really struggling with the cold. I know it’s a mixture of lack of padding (lost 7.5st) and the jabs. I’m planning to stay on maintenance for at least 6 months but definitely want to come off them as I hate being cold all of the time. For me it started in week 1 so I know it’s a side effects of the MJ and am very hopeful it will improve when I stop them.
