Hi, I’m just wondering what people would do. I have been on 10mg for 3 months now (12.5 for this last dose) and I’m more than happy with my weight and want to maintain at this. However I really don’t want to drop any more. Do I stick to 10mg and risk losing more (albeit less) or do I drop to 7.5mg (using clicks from a 10mg pen) and hope I don’t gain much? I’m a bit lost on what to do. Thank you. :)

You need to focus on your food input to work this out, not your mg of Mounjaro.

I don’t disagree but I’m trying to work out if by dropping too much too quickly I’d be opening up to too much food noise? Thank you :)

I haven’t reached goal yet so no personal experience but from the starting side of the journey, I think you need to test what works.

do you plan to stay on long term or to drop mj? How suppressed is your appetite- are you able to eat well and increase your food intake a little?

I would check your maintenance calories and compare to what you are eating. If you are in deficit and cannot manage to eat a little more, then maybe try dropping your dose a little and see what happens - if you can maintain the all good, if you start to gain or food noise is unbearable then go back up.

i would also make changes gradually and track your meals so you can see any impact.

I’d reduce your dose and see how you go. I found the food noise didn’t come back too badly, but also I have a much stronger reason to resist the small stuff. Hopefully if you’ve shifted how you eat to avoid feeling uncomfortable when on the MJ then you can carry this on. I’ve been off completely for six months and I’ve been floating around the same 3lbs quite happily. I have been weighing daily to keep myself on track. 🙂

I hit goal on 10mg and stayed on it for another 6 weeks as recommended by my prescriber. I did continue to lose weight so moved down to 7.5. Did 4 weeks and still lost so dropped to 5.

Have now been on 5 for about 4 months and my weight fluctuates within my 7lb maintenance range. I am able to eat enough to maintain and feel kind of normal! I did try 3.75 for a couple of weeks but the food noise was LOUD so 5 it is for now.

I am open to moving either way in the future as my body asks for more or less. It’s all a major experiment really!!

Fair enough but you haven’t mentioned how that food noise has been at any of the doses nor have you given any idea of you want it completely gone or happy to manage it at a lower level?

I only take 2.5mg and the food noise is there now, not I can manage it far easier so without I won’t anything about your wants or reactions it’s hard to say. I would recommend as low a dose as possible but that’d because I don’t mind food noise in the background an I like the usual feelings of hunger and not struggling to eat a proper meal.

I reached bmi 25 and reduced from 15mg to 10mg as the doses suddenly got super strong, i figured this was to do with increased insulin sensitivity with weight loss as i was prediabetic before I started, and still lost another 9lbs since, then went to 7.5mg, which was a perfect maintenance dose and took 10mg to lose. You can use tdeecalculator.net to work out your deficit and maintenance cals, as long as you don't go above maintenance you won't gain.
I've hit my goal of 9st bmi 22.7 and now in maintenance, my deficit is 1000 and maintenance is 1500. I switched to wegovy 1.7mg 5 weeks ago but it was super strong and so now taking 5 doses out of my second pen and this week I've been eating 1200-1400 a day and not gained at all.
If you do gain, it's usually due to carbs which cause water retention, then can get back to drinking lots of water, high protein, low carb to lose the excess water weight. To gain a 1lb you would have to eat over 3500 cals on top of maintenance.
I've also started body toning classes with dumbbells following a youtuber Growwithjo. Recommend starting exercise to burn more cals and build muscle, this will allow you to eat more cals for maintenance and tone your body.
A friend has gone from 10mg and now down to 3.5mg and she is still in her target weight after 4 months of this.
