Semaglutide overdose

Hi, I started Wegovy in September on 0.25mg. Moved up to 0.5mg after tolerating it very well. Increased the dose again to 1mg on Sunday and my body has reacted like I've overdosed. Severe nausea, vomiting, lethargy etc.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know of any ways I can fighting feeling so unwell or how long this might last?

Thank you

Are you absolutely sure its not a virus?

Ring the pharmacist that issued it to you when they reopen tomorrow. They advise you stick to 0.5. Are you losing weight?

I have flu A, this superflu making everyone really ill. I feel like I've had an overdose though even though I took it as prescribed. Feels like my body somehow got the whole pen instead of one dose although I doubt it.

I feel so ill. I haven't eaten for a week. I keep crying and retching and feeling like I'm dying. I have been getting extreme anxiety too and am scared of being left on my own.

I doubt they'll be open on Boxing Day but I will get in touch with them. I was losing weight steadily yes.

you have the flu. Surely that's why you feel ill. I wouldn't have increased the dosage while I was ill, I probably would have skipped a week. Not much you can do now except wait to get better

Sounds like the flu plus side effects of going up. Why would you go up when you’re unwell?!

Hatemyself35 · 25/12/2025 15:36

if you actually think your overdosed you should contact the pharmacist.

I’ve not taken wegovy just mounjaro but in early days when I moved from 2.5mg to 5mg I felt awful for weeks, ended up having a few weeks off and then going back to 2.5mg. Just feeling nauseous all the time, cramps in stomach etc.

I’ve carried on and lost most of my weight now but if I am having a sicky day getting some electrolytes in me and just a few pieces of chicken or crackers helps a lot, and also just taking some Rennie deflatine helps. It sounds like perhaps a combination of increasing the dosage with flu but if you’re worried or symptoms and worrying you should contact the pharmacists.

Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and to fight the flu. Would have been best not to go up a dose while unwell, but it's done now. Take electrolytes too if you have them. You probably don't want to eat but eating little and often may help with the nausea feeling and those symptoms could also be low blood sugar, i always feel better after ive eaten something. Don't take your next dose until you feel better and consider dropping back down to 0.5mg.

Just sounds like flu … plus acclimatising to new dose. I doubt it’s anything more.
