If you count clicks

if I want to just titrate up very slightly …From 2.5 to 3 for example… that’s going to leave me with 2 left in a 5mg pen.

How are you doing it? Is there a click counting guide somewhere?

It is unsafe to count clicks?

I count clicks from time to time. I use https://monj.co.uk/monj-mounjaro-click-chart/ as a guide.
It's not unsafe - the pen design is used for diabetics who often count clicks.
If you're counting clicks you will find you have an odd amount left at the end of the pen. You can use a syringe to get the leftover after the pen freezes or just go with what you can get via clicking.

60 clicks is a full dose, so you need to work from there and figure out what 1mg is. For a 5 mg pen as follows:

60/5 is 12. So 12 clicks = 1mg. Therefore to get 3mg you would need to do 36 clicks.

You can use the same calculation for any pen, just divide 60 with whatever the strength of pen is to find out how many clicks = 1mg and go from there.

You will get 5 x 5mg doses as standard so if you extract 3mg you will get 8 doses and 1mg left in which you could add to your 8th dose to bump it up to 4mg.

It's just proportion. I work out what proportion of a full dose I want to take, and then find that proportion of 60 clicks.

Does this work with the new pens with no extra dose?

Can you use normal needles, or do you have to extract?

@RatherTardy as far as I can tell, no one has actually seen or received one of the supposed new pens with less leftover medication. And, if you’re talking about counting clicks, it’s irrelevant. It would still be 60 clicks for a full dose. If you are doing less than 60 clicks for a partial dose, then you just use the pen and the pen needles as normal, except you only wind the pen out for fewer clicks than the full 60 that you would normally do to turn the pen to the 1 position for a full dose.

I’m not getting extra needles as am phobic. Will just do smaller doses to start off with I think. The fatigue from the first dose was so horrible I don’t just want to double up straight away.

2.5 didn’t agree with me OP. I went down to 1mg for my second jab and worked my way up. The highest I went to was 4mg I think, for two weeks.

Do what feels right for you! I started a month on 1.25 and went up and now I take 3mg out of a 5mg pen (36 clicks).

Interesting. How long were you on it? Have you come off now?

6 months later I've lost 3 and a half stone.

I was on for about five months and came off at the start of September due to the cost jump and side effects.
