Twice a week

Does anyone split their dose and have it twice a week?

I’ve struggled to find a dose that works for me. I’m on 12.5 and not getting much impact. I feel it most on the day before I’m next due to inject! So I’m wondering about splitting my dose to keep the levels steadier (not taking more in the course of 4 weeks than I’m prescribed, just splitting it in to 8 instead of 4).

I tried it for around 3 weeks but found the first dose didn't raise it enough for good suppression when halving it, then I was doing the 2nd jab earlier than expected as I was hungry all the time.
I moved to wegovy 1.7mg from 10mg just over a month ago and really glad I did as it lasts all week long and it's stronger in suppression and satiety than 10mg. I've lost 3lbs in my first month hitting bmi 22.7 and my goal of 4 stone loss, 9 stone 0.5lbs. Its been great as I don't have the nausea or low energy and my excess hair shedding of 11 months has finally stopped even though I'm still on low calories and losing.

Why not go up to 15?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/12/2025 20:59

If 12.5 is Working then go to 15

3lbs in a month isn’t that good tbh. Less then a lb a week- which is average on any diet / but good if you had other side effects on mj and don’t on w

WeAllHaveWings · 22/12/2025 21:43

If 12.5mg isn’t working for you, 6.25mg twice a week will theoretically give you a lower peak level so surely will also not work?

I am not keen on regularly injecting more often, as risks are unknown.

I have a 15 in the fridge to move to. But at the moment I’m feeling more suppression towards the end of the week, when the dose is wearing off. So not at all convinced that going up a dose is what I need!

It is at 9st 0.5lbs bmi 22.7, losing 3lbs in a month is massive considering my deficit is 1000 so it's hard to lose at my size and height and get enough protein in. My muscle mass has gone from 43 to 37.5% so still high for a woman. A lot of women stall way before they get to a healthy bmi and for wegovy to work that way whenever everyone disses it, shows it does work. My friend had a 3-4 month stall on mj 10mg then went to 1.7mg and has been losing regularly again. She doesn't calorie count or changed what she eats and has a carby diet so I mentioned wegovy because it may help if mj isn't working anymore and is a lot cheaper.

I was getting the same on the higher doses, suppression was stronger towards the last half of the week, no idea why it did that. With wegovy I've had it from the start, kicks in after a few hrs not days and it lasts all week, 7 day half life, but I did move to a reasonable dose from the start.

gallivantsaregood · 23/12/2025 12:35

I've moved to every 5 days. I follow an obesity specialist doctor on YouTube -Dr Kevin Joseph. He doesn't advocate twice weekly due to potentially saturating the receptors, meaning increasing doses will possibly have little to no effect. He said 5 or 6 days should be ok, when I asjed him, due to the half life being 5 days , but no more frequently.

Interesting. It’s useful to hear from someone with a similar experience. I have been considering switching to Wegovy, so it’s useful to hear your experience.
