Less effective around period

So I've just moved up to 1.7 on wegovy...it's been a very effective dose for me so far. Good suppression and I feel full very quickly. I injected on Friday...but since then I've been absolutely starving and have eaten so much. Was starting to wonder if it's no longer effective...Then today I got my period. So I'm wondering if others have experienced this...does the jab feel less effective around your time of the month?

I'm a year in, was on MJ first and now Wegovy 1.7.
I absolutely notice the difference a week before period. I ended up tweaking and upping my MJ dose when I knew my period was coming.
I can't do that on Wegovy so I just do my best with willpower and lots of protein.

But yes, both MJ and Wegovy were/are less effective in the week before period :(

Thanks for responding...I feel like my hormones are too strong for the dose...! Last week I was struggling to eat and the last two days I cannot stop!

Yes, it was actually one of the first things I noticed when I started the WLIs. It was really interesting to actually be able to see genuine patterns in my eating due to natural hormonal changes once the fog of eating for 100 different other reasons lifted. I find I’m hungrier the week of my period and I also go up a pound or two in the few days before it starts with water retention. I’m back to normal again once it finishes, though the water retention happens again around ovulation time too.

Same, only with Mounjaro not Wegovy. I have to be stricter with myself not to mindlessly munch while on my period and rarely loose weight the week of my period - it all comes off the following week so I think it's water retention more than anything. The cravings I just have to deal with through extra willpower!

Definitely. I bloat and want to eat more the week of my period. I started middle of March so I have learned to recognise the patterns. I generally go with it now!

I also notice the week after my period it al catches up and I get a noticeable weight loss. This week has given me even more turkey neck 😥
Better turkey neck than being too fat and unhealthy.

Yes, I notice the same on mounjaro. I'm 10 months in, and just accept it as part of the ebb and flow. As soon as period starts, my appetite reduces. I don't go wild when I am due on, but do allow myself to eat more... Trying to stick to sensible things. I do find I want carbs, so just have a bagel or something. It only amounts to an extra 2-300 calories. At first it made me worried about it not working, or I would gain the weight, but it feels contained and I work with it instead of against it

I have found this on Mounjaro too - I've said a few times it's now clear that nothing will stop the carb cravings in the week before 😅
