Eyesight

I’ve found that my eyesight has quite suddenly deteoriated this year and I need glasses for reading now. Nothing major but by the end of the day, I feel like I definitely need my glasses if I’m on my phone. I’ve read a lot about eyesight and mounjaro and just wondered if anyone else had anecdotally noticed any links. I hit the big 4-0 this year so could be a coincidence

My eyesight started going in my forties. It hasn't changed dramatically on MJ.

Mudflaps · 20/12/2025 22:57

Mine started to deteriorate in my 40's but then improved when I started HRT. I think its age/hormone related.

EdinaTheConfessor · 20/12/2025 23:01

Mine has really deteriorated recently. I put it down to middle age, I’m 45, but have been on Mounjaro so maybe it is that if there is a link.
Is there any evidence to suggest that my eyesight will get better when I come off it?

NoDramas · 20/12/2025 23:54

Anybody, whether on WLI or not, is likely to experience reduced near (reading) vision completely naturally, as they age. This is most commonly noticed by the 40+ age group. It is called presbyopia and is inevitable. There is no pill/exercise etc to prevent it. Welcome to middle age!

I think this is the definition of correlation not causation. I’ve also needed reading glasses for the first time this year and first used Mounjaro this year. However I am mid 40s which I would guess is a pretty common age of Mj users on this board due to middle age/peri weight gain!

Charlenedickens · 21/12/2025 08:11

Mine started deteriorating in my 40s also, it is completely normal.

i do find it a little odd that a small percentage of people seem to think every single thing that happens to them whilst on the drug is due to fhe drug, like they are super human and never get ill, see signs of ageing, it all must be the drug

Confused

@Charlenedickensit’s inevitable really when there is still a narrative of fear promoted by the media and certain celebrities. Looking at you Robbie.

girdlehurdle · 21/12/2025 09:42

Yep @oneangrydwarfand200solemnfacesguilty as charged over here! I heard all the stuff Robbie put out there and a quick Google and my mind started to wonder!

@Mudflapsi didn’t know it could be hormone related. My pre menstrual symptoms have definitely changed this year so that makes sense
