Should I use MJ or something else?

I am really desperate to lose my postpartum weight. I am at 70kgs at 154 CMS which is a nearly obese BMI. I want to get to 60kgs and it took me 5 months to get from 76 to 70 kgs. I am about to stop breastfeeding and looking to start weight loss journey.
Can anyone recommend if MJ is best to lose 10kga or any other suggestions are welcome.

have you made any changes?

I was doing 16:8 intermittent fasting and exercise to get from 76 to 69 kilos. Then gained another kilo when stopped.

If you have lost 6kgs without medication I would be tempted to say don’t bother with injections.

The injections are expensive and cause side effects. I would also look into if they would prescribe them with your weight. I thought it was only over obese bmi.

If you do them, mj has good feedback. Could be a good starting point and see how you get on

Restart?

70kg at 5ft 4 is a BMI of 26.4 which is not nearly obese, unless your ethnicity means that obese starts at 27 BMI? So, the first question is whether you’d be able to get a prescription for Mounjaro or Wegovy at your current weight.

Tbh, using a prescription obesity medication wouldn’t be my first choice to go from a bit overweight to a healthy weight. I would want to try things like low carb, IF, or other dietary approaches first. To avoid the expense and to avoid any possible side effects.

I am still sleepless with young DC and feeling lack of willpower to continue such intermittent fasting for long time.

Sorry OP my mistake with your height! Your BMI is 29.1 which is still under the 30 BMI criteria, unless you have a weight related health condition.

No condition but I want to do MJ privately. I feel so much bigger now and it's really getting me down.

The criteria applies to private prescriptions. Nearly everyone using Mounjaro is paying for it themselves.

Willowy2 · 20/12/2025 19:01

If you want to try and see if you are eligible then go ahead and apply to one of the many of providers. Mounjaro could be very effective. I started with a BMI of only just over 30 and wish I could have started sooner to save the year long battle of trying and failing. You might find that due to being under 30 BMI then most prescribers will not prescribe as the cut off is 30, but no harm in trying.

Weigh yourself at the end of the day after a litre of water and a big bowl of pasta or similar, wearing jeans and a jumper, you will likely hit the 30 bmi, you don’t need to take your lowest weight, naked in the morning,

Everyone will reject you at 29, unless you’ve health conditions, so don’t bother, as said, weigh yourself as described in the evening, you will hit 30.
