Welcome fellow maintainers to our third thread! Tis the season to be joyful and we do have reasons to be joyful, as we are still here. Not always the perfect journey and full of treats and temptations, but we'd have nothing to talk about otherwise. So hop on the Magical Maintenance Sleigh of Wonder and lets go! (Apologies to all those reading this for the first time in March! I got a bit carried away my festive season puns.)

@Kittkats - hello and welcome, fellow cheese lover! I went a bit mad buying Christmas cheese from our excellent, local cheese shop and still have a lot leftover. It’s too expensive to throw out so I will be putting mine in the freezer -cheese freezes really well - to consume in small (for me!) portions over the coming months. Would that work for you?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2026 10:57

Kittkats · 01/01/2026 09:03

Can I join? I’ve been maintaining since 10th October on 2.5mg, gradually spacing longer between jabs. I was down to 10 days, decided not to jab or weigh over Christmas (so now 3 weeks since my last jab), and have weighed for the first time since 20th December today to find I’ve gained 9lb.

Entirely my fault, I’ve hardly drank water (and that’s an instant 3lb gain for me usually) and haven’t tracked calories. There has also been wine. And a raspberry roulade with cream. And cheese.

Im back to tracking and water from today, though looking at my fridge cheese may remain a dietary staple for a while (but less of it!).

I’ll decide in a couple of days whether to jab or not.

I’m sure you haven’t put on 9lbs in just over 10 days

Sallycinnamum · 01/01/2026 12:27

Happy new year everyone!

Coming off MJ just before Xmas was a big mistake. I don't think I'd given myself enough time to adjust to having an appetite again so I've signed up with Get a Drip and a 5mg pen is on its way.

Plan is to spend the next 2 months titrating down and coming off it all together.

Really can't afford to be on it long term and I need to get my head around being a healthy weight and that its ok for a few lbs to fluctuate here and there.

MargoLivebetter · 01/01/2026 12:28

Happy New Year all ye maintainers. Here's to a healthy and slim 2026!

Hello @Kittkats welcome to the maintenance threads. I'm sure that 9lb will mostly be water retention, it can't possibly be fat in such a short period of time. Back on it and you'll shed that in no time.

I tried to go a bit crazy last night and eat cheese and chocolates but ended up feeling horribly full and uncomfortable very quickly, so ended up only indulging a tiny bit. I'd already lost 1 of the lb that I gained, so I am not going to come out of the festive period much over where I started it.

My plan is to continue with the microdose once a week for the time being and review the situation when it gets warmer. My resolution is to do more weights and resistance work in 2026.

I am quite worried about being off completely. I have enough to do micro dosing until May. I am thinking if I can afford it to sign up to a maintenance pharmacy for a year. I want to get my body completely settles at a healthy weight. I don't want my body fighting to get back to my old set point. Sorry been reading too much Dr Andrew Jenkinson.
It is good to hear about all these different maintenance companies.
I am aiming for less than 10% off my food to come from UPF.
We had some Ben and Jerry's ice cream yesterday after 2 teaspoons full I didn't want it. I'm hoping my tastebuds will start reacting like that to a lot of UPF, as I eat more natural.
Happy and a Healthy New Year to you all!

Kittkats · 01/01/2026 14:11

You’re right, it can’t all be fat! Hopefully 7 or 8lbs are water weight from not eating/ drinking the right things.
Thank you for the cheese freezing tip @LadyClumber - very helpful!

Sadteacher · 01/01/2026 14:18

I know people always say it can’t be fat. I put on 5lbs on average after every all inclusive holiday or Christmas and it has never just fallen off again a couple of weeks later when I go back to normal eating. Thats why I became so fat over the years!
I weighed this morning and have put on 4lbs over the last week. It will be interesting to see if I can lose it this time. I do feel my new habits, namely exercise gives me a fighting chance this time.

OneThirdLess · 01/01/2026 18:09

Welcome @Kittkats, I also have a stash of cheese in my fridge. The bries will be eaten over the next few days, the cheddar types will go into macaroni & butternut squash cheese, the blues will become muffins to have with veg soup. I love cheese!

@Sadteacher I've put on 4lbs and like you it doesn't just fall off I really have to be strict about a deficit to shift it, and it can take a while. I just figure 4lbs will be easier to shift than 5.5 stone. When the kids are back in school it'll be easier for me to get back to exercising which will hopefully help me back into a sensible eating routine as well.

@MargoLivebetter I overindulged on cheese and chocolate last night, it was lovely and shown me I really can out eat the medication, I wish I couldn't but I have to work with it and use some discipline.

tinyemmy · 01/01/2026 20:05

First day back on plan. Enough of the December extras (I'd planned to be back on it yesterday but friends brought treats for us to eat). I'm also away this weekend, so damage limitation. I'd love to lose half a pound this week! I'm weighing in at Slimming World where I'm currently near the top of my range. I need to lose 2.5lbs to get back to target and 4.5 to get to where I was before December took hold.
According to Dose diary I have 1.11mg of mj in my system currently. So far so good...

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2026 20:10

@Sadteacher I was the same. Usually a good 3/4/7 lbs over Xmas and each holiday an why I ended up being over 17s

I am amazed I havnt out weight in over Xmas as have def eaten more than usually do and haven’t tracked calories at all as been hard to

had another full roast today as Xmas no 2

pensterino · 01/01/2026 20:52

I've been using Mounjaro since July 2024. Not quite at goal, but only 2.5kg to go (11.5 lost so far) and I'm thinking ahead about dialling down, and then maintenance.

I'm 69 and my previously excellent metabolism was borked 35 years ago, a few months after my first child was born, when I had something going on hormonally - including hypothyroidism. The thyroid hormones resolved themselves, eventually, but my metabolism never got back to anywhere near pre-pregnancy levels. Since then I have been on the world's longest exercise and eating restriction programme (or at least it feels like that) with my weight mostly sitting between 73 and 80kg (I'm 159cm and that means BMIs of 29 to 32). My highest weight was 84kg.

Anyway, I wasn't very responsive to MJ initially, but the weight loss has really got into gear over the past month, helped by a nasty flu-ey cold post Christmas. I was due to go up from 10mg to 12.5mg with the next dose (tomorrow, but I might wait a day because I still feel like crap). But now I'm tempted to spread the pen over 5 doses of 10mg (48 clicks) as I'm now 65.5kg and my goal is 63.

I'm using Medexpress as my provider - has anyone any experience of decreasing doses and then maintaining through them? Or should I switch to another supplier?

pensterino · 01/01/2026 20:55

Aargghh, no, that should be "I've been using Mounjaro since July 2025"...

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2026 21:07

It didn’t really work for me till 10 tbh

I would carry on same dose till hit target then Reduce to maintain

most do maintenance now so if happy with them and get a good price stay. If can get cheaper swap

Choccyface · 02/01/2026 10:37

Took my last jab approx 3wks ago (was on 2.5 throughout) and lost 2.5 stone. Not been very bad (by my standards!)but have put 4lb on over Xmas. Am still lighter than I was 14yrs ago but worrying that it will go back on again! Any advice?x

MargoLivebetter · 02/01/2026 10:59

Hello @Choccyface and welcome to maintenance. Sounds like you are doing really well. What advice are you looking for?

Hi all, I've been following a long since I bought my last pen back in September, and having put on a bit over Christmas, I'm wondering about suppliers that I could go to for maintenance. I took my last pen very gradually over Sept/Oct/Nov. Is there anyone you would recommend approaching please?

MargoLivebetter · 02/01/2026 11:11

Hello @OkyDoke welcome to the maintenance thread. I've found Pharmulous really good. Others on here have used Oushk and Swift. I think lots of suppliers will offer maintenance now.

Thank you Margo, I'll take a look at Pharmulous first! I'm going to see how the next couple of weeks go with cutting down and getting back to the gym and then take it from there I think. I'd rather not have to pay out for the jab but I don't want to undo my hard work either!

LadyClumber · 02/01/2026 11:31

I use Lotus as they support maintenance at a lower BMI than many of the others. ( NB -I need to be at a lower BMI for health reasons, not vanity! I am an apple shaped shortie with a family history of T2 and T1 diabetes. Unfortunately, because of my shape, my waist - hip ratio and subcutaneous stomach fat (the dangerous stuff!) falls outside the ‘normal range’ if my BMI is above 19. ) Anyhoo, I think Lotus accepts new maintainers with a BMI of at least 21. You earn points via repeat offers and referrals which can be converted into discounts on orders. I started ordering from Lotus shortly before the August ‘pendemic’ and have been very impressed with their customer service so far.

MargoLivebetter · 02/01/2026 11:33

I hadn't heard of Lotus, thank you @LadyClumber .

@Blondeshavemorefun - good luck for the coming week(s)!! Will be following with interest…

Merlin23 · 02/01/2026 14:57

I bought new scales, I went for the Renpho ones that do full body analysis. I was really worried that losing all this weight since April would damage my bodies composition. I've read about so many people who have lost muscle and little fat!
I am blown away with the results. I am green in everything and even dipped into the blue for low in some things that are ok to be low in. It has me as being more muscle than I expected. My fats are in the average or low category.
I do an active job 3 days a week so just proves you don't always have to go out of your way to do more exercise.
I am going to start doing more weights at home but I am really happy that I have lost fat and not muscle.
That is a happy start to the new year!
Weight is just a number, but it is good to see all the break down so I know i have done the right thing for my body.
