A Christmas warning

I’m 81lb down on Mounjaro and went out for a Christmas Do last week. Just in case I’m the only one who didn’t realise this, but I can’t handle my drink like I could 81lb ago. I ended up totally bladdered and do not intend to ever repeat that!

On the plus side, it’s absolutely brilliant to be able to go into any shop and buy anything I want to wear and feeling happy in myself.

My tolerance must be way down, not just because I'm 72lbs smaller but because MJ has basically killed my desire and ability to drink much at all for the last 9 months.

Thanks haven't had a drink in 10 months, I think I'll keep off, but I don't think I really want to anyway, I think it would destroy me, I'm only 7. 7 now, a thimble would get me bladdered😂

I still drink the odd glass of wine.

I got through my Christmas do with 1 small glass of prosecco and 1 glass of wine.
And I felt awful the next day.

Absolutely no desire for alcohol!! (3 stone gone) And I'm tipsy after one white wine so will have a glass of port which seems to go down better... I'm not sure if is the WLI or just 58 years of wisdom finally hitting me on the head....😂

I am 81 lbs down too! I jab on a Sunday and don't drink much at all now - but can enjoy a couple on a Saturday if I feel like it.

I learnt my lesson with this before
Am maintaining now and managed my injection day and dose to ensure I could enjoy quite a few drinks at the Xmas do. A few cocktails and a few glasses of Prosecco. Still had to be careful but was ok as was day 6 at least after injecting.

Does anyone know the science behind it, as it gets processed through the liver which doesn’t change size does it? So why can’t we handle it as well at a slimmer weight?

@Disturbia81 You livers jobs is to clear out toxins, process nutrients and keep your body chemistry regulated. If your blood sugar is lower on Mounjaro and your liver is prioritising processing the alcohol/toxin first, it interferes with your livers normal job including keeping blood sugar levels stable and intensifies the effects.

I think I also read last year that slower stomach emptying delays the impact of alcohol and it can hit later and harder. You think I'm fine......I'm fine.........then suddenly you're not!

Ha! Yes, I’ve had this op. But I agree that it feels fab to be able to shop for clothes without fear or shame.

i had to do a Facebook live for work today, and I’d usually dread watching it back. I felt quite proud of how ‘normal’ I looked this time. And it made a change not to cringe at the black oversized tunic I’d have worn in the past.
