Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

Welcome @MJbum, hope the fatigue settles, and great start!

Colinthedaxi · 11/01/2026 17:45

So, in the time I’ve been on Mounjaro my husband has lost 7kg… I have not 🤣 - proves there is less snacking going on, less meals out, no takeaways!

I’m now getting lots of emails to buy another syringe, my weight is creeping down oh so slowly now but I feel I wouldn’t want to eat much less - as much as I’d love to loose a stone over night this feels like it might be easier to maintain. I am now realising how little I need to eat to loose weight and when I was “being good” before I was still probably eating ALL my daily calories! I’m also remembering I was actively gaining weight before. So I have a golden dose on my first syringe and a whole new syringe to use. Do I have to order quickly? I’m ahead partially because I could order quickly at Christmas but also because I was spreading the doses out a bit. I won’t be doing that going forward. I’m thinking to order another 2.5, take this one at 7 days and if needed could take the new one at 6 days? Or do I hold off for a couple of weeks and see if I want to come up to 5mg?

For people with partners how are they? Mine never asks if I’ve lost weight or mentions it all which I find slightly odd, to be fair he also never mentioned me repeatedly buying larger jeans 🤣

cobblers00 · 11/01/2026 19:45

@Colinthedaxi if you’re losing & happy on lower dose I’m big advocate of staying on it. I’m 3 months on 2.5 now & yes I get hungry but it gives me just enough support to keep portions small & choices healthy - I’m losing average 1-2lb a week which suits me. I have jabbed at 6 days a couple of times, no difference really. No one knows I’m on it (except DH) so would rather lose weight slowly to not raise any suspicions!!!
how annoying your DH has lost so much so seemingly easily! Have you commented on his loss? My DH comments & is very supportive but he was not a huge fan of my ‘fuller’ physique- fair enough, I had let myself go a lot (& had his children of course) since we met!

I’d stay on 2.5 if you’re happy! I think I went up to 5 too soon and plan to hang on it as long as I can really.

Margaritawithlime · 11/01/2026 21:24

I have the weird eggy burps I keep reading about. Other than slower bowels this is the first proper side effect I’ve had. It’s gross!🤮

Re partners, mine wasnt keen on me doing it, said I didnt need to lose weight. It frustrates me as I was more than 3 stone heavier than when I met him and had a overweight BMI so its not relevant if he doesnt care or not. Only things he says are like oh you wont want to do that as you're not really eating, it feels like a bit of a dig. I have lost 2 stone and he hasnt commented once, even my brother has noticed and I reckon I could dye my hair blue and he'd struggle to figure out what was different 😂

I don't actually mind if he comments or not really as I am doing it for me and my health.

Colinthedaxi · 12/01/2026 16:27

Interesting isn’t it, I’m also three stone up from when we met (five years ago!!!) and his preference is slimmer. But it’s just a complete lack of interest, like he’s forgotten I’m on the injections. He is a bit (ha!) of a feeder so I’m hoping the injections will reset us both so his default is not “ oh my wife is depressed about her weight, a cake will help” 🤣

@cobblers00 i may have muttered “lucky bastard” or something similar under my breath. I just find men can loose weight quickly in a way women can’t, I’m blaming hormones, or making excuses 😋.

i think I’m going to stay on 2.5 for another month, I also want to be slightly subtle about loosing weight.

Me and DH are bad influences on each other, we'd sit there of an evening and one of us would have said ooh I fancy something sweet so he'd nip off to the shop and get biscuits/chocolate. Now I wouldnt be interested if he did which is good.

Men definitely lose quicker, when I did WW years ago after having DS1 often the men would lose significantly more than their partners, often 10+lb in their first week and very rarely plateaued. I imagine it is hormone related. Also younger people lose quicker. I lost 33lb (after putting on a huge amount when pregnant age 25 as I was only not nauseas when I was physically eating) in less than 4 months, with no exercise and didnt even find it particularly difficult. Totally different story now (well before MJ)

Frillysweetpea · 12/01/2026 19:02

I have to stop MJ for 2 weeks due to planned surgery. Its a minor op and I will be a day case or overnight only. I'll be 8 weeks in by the time I stop and will have one dose of my first 5 mg pen left. Anyone know how I restart/what I need to re-order from the pharmacy?

StrongGirlsLift · 12/01/2026 19:41

On men losing weight faster, my DH just stops eating pastries and/or butter, or gives up alcohol for a bit, and the weight falls off! To be fair, he does run quite a lot of mileage. I rarely consume any of those and am still overweight, bah.

@Frillysweetpea good luck with your surgery. I am not sure - is there any info in the medicine box or on your prescriber’s website?

Florrieboo · 12/01/2026 20:18

You could split that last does @Frillysweetpea and take two half doses after the surgery and then see if you want to stay on 2.5 for another month or go back up to 5.
I am going to get a 5 pen and count clicks to use it as a 2.5 dose next month.

Just changed to Bolt and OMG they take their time! Did it several days ago and it’s still in the first stages and hasn’t been approved yet?!? Anyone else use Bolt?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 13/01/2026 15:29

My order with Bolt was really quick - I’d see if you can find a customer service chat option to chase it. Don’t just assume it’s taking time, it might have got stuck somewhere in the process.

Same as @putthehamsterbackinitscage they were almost next day for me. Have you other factors they’re trying to check? Meds you’re taking alongside?

Colinthedaxi · 13/01/2026 18:59

Has anyone had joy with the golden dose? Armed with my trusty diabetic syringe. I managed to cock it up completely, way less than 0.6 with a huge air bubble so I admitted defeat and binned it. Then I jammed the new syringe and had to take the needle off and start again. All in all not the most successful evening. Reordered with MedExpress who are probably hideously expensive rather than checking out others. On my way to work this morning I was all cheery feeling great, tonight I have just realised I was actually my current weight six months ago and I’ve just spent £350 to get back to it 🤣

Florrieboo · 13/01/2026 19:52

@Colinthedaxi I did my first golden dose last night, and I was surprised at how well it went. I had about 0.7 in the syringe so I pumped some out after priming and it went totally fine. It was less stressful that I had anticipated it being.
First month done and I have lost 5.3kg, I am really happy with how it is going, no hardship at all, I haven't felt any cravings and have had no food noise. I am staying on 2.5 for the next while.

Colinthedaxi · 13/01/2026 20:10

Wonder what I did wrong, I was entirely distracted by trying not to let the puppy eat the house at the same time 🤣

Yes I’m on medication but that’s the reason I can’t lose the weight. They did query it but a while ago, I’ve emailed them to chase. Think I would rather pay the extra and not have to wait

Tammy214 · 14/01/2026 12:55

I struggled eating in the last couple of weeks which i think is contributing to my fatigue which has meant i havent been to the gym in that i wanted. My 3rd 5mg dose is due tomorrow so i have brought protien powder to suuplement my diet when i am not eating enough protien as am finding that hard at the moment , my apetite is not there right now.
weirdly enough i can still drink wine, slowly but without any side effects i have heard mention.
Overall i can now start to see the difference , however slight. my partner can to which is also good. still along way to go but am finding my feet i think , i gave up dry jan as i wasnt feeling it, just moderate now

SexyFrenchDepression · 14/01/2026 13:54

I went down to 2.5mg last thurs from 3.75 and still have no appetite at all. It is getting me down a bit as would like to feel a bit hungry. I could easily have less than 500 cals a day I reckon but I want to feel energetic enough to go to the gym etc.

I am hoping its just because I am getting over this virus, will stick to 2.5 tomorrow also and see what my weigh in says on Sat also.

MissBridgetJones · 14/01/2026 15:21

Just checking and wondering if anyone isexperiencing (TW - 💩) the same issue and if so any tips.

I 'go' in the morning, it's liquid. I'm not in any discomfort and it doesn't bother me asuch, but I am feeling like I'm constipated at the same time.

I did 2.5 for 4 weeks and 5 for 5 weeks now (another 3 weeks on 5 for me) considering sticking with 5, but see how the food noise is in a few weeks.

SW: 78.2 kg
CW: 69.9 kg
TW: 60 kg

Nearly half way..... Smile

Any other PCOS girls on here? It's bloody life changing stuff.

Only downside so far is that my boobs look like week old water bombs!!!!

MissBridgetJones · 14/01/2026 15:43

My BMI is now 25.7 - woooohooooo!

cobblers00 · 14/01/2026 16:41

Well done @MissBridgetJonesgreat results (bar the water bomb boobs of course!!)
Bowels behaving here this week.. when I’ve had issues they’ve been minor & more bunged up than loose. What’s your diet like in terms of fibre etc? Are you drinking protein shakes? They can cause problems I think.

OP posts:
MissBridgetJones · 14/01/2026 18:41

@cobblers00 pretty good I think, Greek yog, with prune purée (fairly gross!) sour dough bread, eggs with cottage cheese etc. Deffo eating less carbs as they fill me up... gone off pasta and rice. Steak and veg tonight.

Trying to steer clear of shakes and ultra processed.

Wine is still fine. Win!
