Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

Had my second dose Friday night ( I’m in Australia) can definitely tell this is accumulative …. Didn’t feel sick at all last week but woke up with a sorry belly and nausea this morning. I’m excited for this week then as last week I didn’t feel I had the massive food noise lots are talking about.

Week one down 0.8kg which I’m happy about I’d rather go slow as I’m really worried about hair loss

Frillysweetpea · 13/12/2025 00:14

Just found this thread. I took my week 4 jab tonight. I have had very few side effects - mild nausea and burping the first 2 weeks. I lost 4lbs the first week then a 1lb each of the next two weeks. So I've ordered 5 mg for my next pen. I'm a bit anxious about the increase as I already struggle to eat my 5 a day. I usually only want to eat 2x a day or perhaps two small snacks and a light meal. Today I had a small amount of multigrain toast and marmalade for breakfast, tinned salmon mayo on lettuce leaves for lunch and forced myself to eat half a tin of peaches; my evening meal was a small roast dinner with broccoli, carrots and parsnips. I think I must be ready to go up a dose though because I wanted chocolate today for the first time in 3 weeks and let myself eat about 6 squares of dairy milk a few hours after my evening meal. I really have to plan my water consumption as otherwise I would forget to drink. The good thing is I have also lost interest in alcohol so that helps with the weight loss. I do want to take it fairly slowly and hope not to increase beyond 5 mg as I'm a bit worried about all the celebs who have lost their appetite and can't get it back after stopping MJ. I didn't hear these stories until after I started!

StrongGirlsLift · 13/12/2025 09:28

Morning all and welcome @Frillysweetpea

Jab 3 for me this morning:
SW: 74kg
CW: 71.57kg
GW: 55kg? (Healthy range 49-65kg)

Measurements are up rather than down this week despite a small loss; think it is hormonal. This morning, my belly looks sort of saggy, which usually happens before a sudden loss. 🤞🏼

I started losing weight a year ago with low calorie and then low carb. It’s amazing to think that, in a year, I could be feeling better and hopefully maintaining rather than rebounding!

I had a long day yesterday and got my eating all wrong - I managed half a sandwich, a protein bar, and an omelette with salad. All a bit too fatty with cheese and I didn’t feel great. I am hoping to be ok when I try to run around a pitch later (my first game back after an injury three months ago).

How’s everyone else getting along?

Gardener82 · 13/12/2025 11:17

First weigh in this morning.
Start weight 185lb
Current 180lb
Goal 140lb.
Happy with that for week 1.

Hi all. I took my first dose of Wegovy on Thursday night. It’s now Sunday morning (in NZ) and I have had no indication at all that I didn’t inject water - no side effects (yay) but no appetite suppression, zilch. For $475 a pen I was hoping for something.
i read on another thread on MN that you should pinch/hold the skin at the injection site and angle the pen. I didn’t do this but surely that’s OK. Though I think I might have had too heavy a touch on the button as I hardly had time to count to two, let alone six.

cobblers00 · 13/12/2025 19:06

@SueblueNZfriend of mine on wegovy said they had no impact til going up to the second dose. Hopefully it’ll kick in for you soon though?!
@Gardener82thats a great start!
@StrongGirlsLiftinteresting what you say about the saggy belly, im noticing im much softer all over. How did you get on today- what sport do you play?
I ended up taking half a dose last night after all. Felt good today, really not too hungry at all either so pleased I didn’t go up to the full dose.

StrongGirlsLift · 13/12/2025 19:19

@SueblueNZ, I think you’re supposed to count to six after the dial has whizzed back to zero, from what I’ve read. Did you prime the needle first? I only ask as someone else on MN realised she hadn’t been getting the full dose!

StrongGirlsLift · 13/12/2025 19:25

Thanks @cobblers00! yes, I remember the soft/floppy fat from low carbing, hoping it will shrink a bit soon!

It went well, thanks! My knee held up well, and the sun was shining for once. I play hockey - so glad to be back, and I scored a couple of times, so all good. We are lucky enough to have a photographer at some of our games and let’s just say they’re never the most flattering action photos of me!

SueblueNZ · 13/12/2025 19:48

@StrongGirlsLift That would make sense. I feel really dumb here. Does priming mean pushing button slightly to let a smigeon of the liquid out. I am now thinking that I didn't really inject at all and that I should do it again tonight.

SueblueNZ · 13/12/2025 20:03

To add ... I have just gone back and checked the instructions. I did check that there was a drop at the needle tip before I set the dose then injected. I suspect I didn't give the Wegovy time to get in as I counted as soon as I put the needle in then quickly withdrew it as soon as the zero appeared, rather than leaving it in while slowly counting to six.
I feel I need to start again today. Though if some of the liquid did go in I might end up with a huge first dose. What do others think?

StrongGirlsLift · 13/12/2025 20:04

we’re all learning!

Does this help? The Voy app I’m using has a video, which I’m watching every time I inject. This is the same basic info: https://www.wegovy.com/taking-wegovy/how-to-use-the-wegovy-pen.html

So, yes, prime the needle by turning to the flow symbol, press the button, see a bead of medicine on the needle, then turn to your dose, then inject, then press the button again, hear it whizz back to zero, then count to at least 5 seconds.

Cross post!

If it was me I think I would wait! Give it at least a couple of days. Does your provider have an advice line maybe? They’re best placed to give you advice.

StrongGirlsLift · 13/12/2025 20:09

Also just to add, two days is very early! Some people need the doses to build. When you inject wk2, you’ll still have meds in your system, so the level in your body will be higher than the wk 2 dose can do alone.

SueblueNZ · 13/12/2025 20:27

Thanks so much @StrongGirlsLift. I have just watched that video and can confirm that I didn't see a yellow bar in the wee clear window so am now convinced that I didn't inject.

Margaritawithlime · 13/12/2025 22:07

well I took my third jab of 2.5 today and I am down another 5lbs this week. That’s 12 total which is bonkers. I had bought a 5mg pen assuming I’d be moving up a dose and not wanting to get stuck over Xmas post but I’m in no mind to move up at the rate I’m losing. So buy another 2.5 and do another month on that or use 5mg for 2.5mg half doses? Not sure if that’s advisable?!
appetite suppression has been huge today. I am so full.

cobblers00 · 13/12/2025 22:19

Wow @Margaritawithlimethat’s a lot! Nearly a stone in 3 weeks! Can you notice it in yourself? How many calories are you consuming a day roughly? I’m also interested in shelf life of pens.. assuming if you don’t open it & store in fridge it’s ok for a while? I’m pretty sure it’s fine to do half doses. I just did yesterday so hope so! You’ll just need more needles. Which pharmacy are you using @Margaritawithlime? I’m with Bolt & they asked a few questions when it came to reorder & based on my answers advised me to stay on 2.5mg.

I’m so pleased I found this thread! Thought I was the only person starting in December! Took first dose Wegovy on Monday - a bit more tired than usual but otherwise all good. Definitely notice the lack of food noise! Keeping my protein high as I train heavy weight and want to hold onto my muscle and strength, but having to make myself eat which is new!!

Agree with this… I was disappointed the first week but the second I’m struggling to eat anything and am feeling the side effects much more … I ham still learning to have more water I’ve always been terrible drinking water ; due to jobs where you can’t just vanish to the toilet if needed

StrongGirlsLift · 14/12/2025 08:23

@QuirkyBrickSwan welcome! Great to focus on protein, hope you continue to build strength!

One of my long term goals is to be able to do pull ups - should be easier with less weight on my frame!

I used bolt for my first pen and they were very quick. IQ doctor for my second and again very quick. I just went for the cheapest pen I could.
calories wise I have been between 1100-1300. I have a lot (A LOT! 9 stone wise) to lose so not noticeable (yet)

I’d love to do a pull up! My goal is a press up and a sub 30 minute 5K

Weirdly when I was super fit and light i still couldnt do pull ups, I could do over 60 full press up in a minute and run 1500m in 6 mins but could do one pull up then could never do a 2nd, so weird! I lifted heavy weights at the time.

First week weigh in this morning and 1.9kg gone. No change to my waist measurement as yet - that’s where I want it from. I’m really pleased, not eating crazy low calories and still seem to have enough calories.
