Mounjaro headaches

I’m 5months into being on mounjaro. Mostly 2.5 sometimes 3.75 but I can’t tolerate side effects on 5mg. First 3 months my main side effects was nausea which was rough but has gone now but last two months I get a 24-48hour painkiller resistant headache every week 2-4days after jab day (when levels are peaking). I’m well hydrated, take electrolytes, eat regularly, reasonablish protein. I have to use ice packs, 4head, eye massager, lie in dark room as pain relief generally does absolutely nothing and I don’t want to keep taking it when it doesn’t work. It’s getting so bad I might need to stop mounjaro and I wanted to take this for life as I’ve lost 2 stone have 1.5 more to go and I’m fitter and healthier than I have ever been. Has anyone else gone through the headache side effect and gotten rid of it? It’s worse than the nausea tbh at least a peppermint oil capsule would usually fix that one!

Sounds tough, 2 days a week with a debilitating headache would be too much for me. Do you get them at 3.75mg or 2.5mg too?

I would be tempted to move back down to a dose that doesn't have that impact, even if it means the positive effects are not as strong and you lose slower.

Have you also tried speaking to your provider and local pharmacy to see if they have any ideas?

Hopefully someone else who has experienced the same will share if they found the solution.

I believe it's the GIP effect of mj, it lowers blood sugars. So I would get them daily at the start for 2 weeks and increasing protein, water and using electrolytes worked. The nausea for me was worse moving up doses for few days at start of first week or two but would then settle until the dose was too high for me. I went up to 15mg, because all doses would wear off 5-7 weeks, 2.5mg only suppressed me for 2 weeks then i had ravenous hunger and no satiety, but 15mg i was bmi 25 and it was horrible could barely eat and zero energy then tapered down to 7.5mg but still had zapped energy though zero nausea.
Last week I moved to wegovy 1.7ng and it is so much better, strong suppression but energy has returned, mood is happier and I'm more active. I do think because wegovy doesn't have the GIP it's better for those of us who are affected by low blood sugar. I'd recommend giving it a go.
