Vomiting 42 hours after injecting?

Yesterday morning I woke in the night with horrendous stomach pains and then vomiting and huge fetid smelling burps. My stomach felt like it was exploding from the inside with pressure. I was awake most of the night burping and vomiting on and off, and writhing in pain.
The thing is the same happened two weeks ago - exactly the same symptoms, the same night (early Thursday morning) with VILE burps and vomiting all night. Then I thought I had eaten something off, but an exact repeat, exactly two weeks later makes me think not.
I inject on Tuesday morning and then this is Thursday early morning (like 2am), 42 hours after injecting in my stomach.

Is it the jab causing this?? I'm not a new user or even new to this dose.
Ive been taking mounjaro since January and have been on 12.5mg since August.

Is this the MJ? If so why now? After 3.5 months on this dose?
Anyone know if I should be worried? It is awful and I can't function the next day due to fatigue, nausea and the stress.

Well, that would probably be when the medication reaches peak in your system after injecting. So it would seem to be correlating with that. It's possible that something you are eating is not coping with the slowed digestion that happens with Mounjaro, and is causing the bloating and subsequent vomiting. I would look to see if there are any patterns to what you are eating on the days before and after injecting. You could also try medication to reduce gas/bloating for those couple of days.

You could also try a low sulphur diet to see if that helps eg - https://www.gidoctor.net/low-sulfur-diet/

Are you eating something different in the three days before you have these events, it is likely linked to the drug, but also something you’re consuming, which is having a dual effect.

Elboob · 21/11/2025 09:33

Thanks - will look into the sulphur thing.
And no, not noticably eating anything different - I have mostly the same to eat - tuna & salad, then the same as the family with only a very small potrion of carbs.

I might have had broccoli salad from costco both times - but I have had this before with no effects.

I'm actually scared stiff of getting pancreatitis - and every twinge is a sign of this in my head.
Can anyone reassure me vomiting alone is not a sign of something more?

I had no side effects for the first 3 pens then all of a sudden vomiting on the day after the jab and an almost constant nausea. Im only on 5mg. I found not eating anything remotely fatty and avoiding alcohol really helped but nothing has stopped it altogether. I have persevered to keep the weight coming off but will now be dropping down to 2.5 mg as luckily im only 7lb off my target. I'm finding it a bit of a slog now and really hope dropping the dose will stop the side effects. Im also a worrier that its a sign of something worse but I have no other problems or pain so I'm fairly sure its nothing sinister.

Why would you get Pancreatitis, are you losing weight rapidly?do you have gallstones? If you’ve health anxiety/hypochondria then I’d maybe speak to a doctor as you need to protect your mental health first and foremost.

Elboob · 21/11/2025 16:29

@Wickedlittledancer thanks. I've had my gallbladder removed a few years ago so no to the gallstones. But I do get twinges on my right hand side of my abdomen.
I don't usually get health anxiety - I suppose this drug not being dispensed by my doctor (but I did ask and they said I could take it) makes me a little nervous.
And no, there has been no rapid weight loss at all - started in January, no effects until April and then I have lost nearly 3 stone in 7 months which isn't fast at all.

@Booksandcheese I had absolutely no symptoms until I was well into 7.5 mg including zero weight loss. This nausea/vomiting is a new thing. Thanks for the advice. I will watch my fat intake.

@Elboob have you lost most of your weight or do you still have more to loose?
I had projectile vomiting and terrible indigestion on my 3rd 10mg pen, for me I think the dose just became too strong as I’d lost most of my weigh by then, I dropped to 7.5mg and a similar thing happened on my third pen of 7.5, by that time I had hit my target weight, I’ve continued to drop my dose in maintenance and haven’t had any more vomiting or indigestion.
it just felt like it had become to strong for me once I was a smaller body weight.

I have been taking Mounjaro for 6 months now and often get queazy 2 days after I inject. Not to your level, but as silence inside says I think it's when the medicine is peaking. Mine is always related to what I have eaten. If I eat something a little too heavy on the tummy, I spend a few hours green at the gills. This sick feeling wasn't there in the beginning when I was heavier, and my dose has stayed the same, so I did think there may be some logic in the lower body weight theory above

It’s dispensed by a qualified pharmacist though, it doesn’t need to be a gp.

@bignewprinz and @Itscoldouthere i like the theory of having lower body weight to drug ratio.
However i am only just under 14stone so hardly a waif.
I might try reducing the dosage though and seeing how I react. Thanks.
