More concerned about switching that I expected

I've been on MJ since the end of Jan. Lost 4 stone 10lbs and now a stone away from goal weight. Overall I'm so happy with this journey and it has changed my life completely for the better.

I took my last MJ dose yesterday (8mg) and will be starting Wegovy 1.7mg on my next jab day.
Not sure if I'm seeking out the negative switch posts but I am struggling to find many people who have had a positive experience switching over.

I'm just wondering if you've had a good experience swapping and if you continued to lose weight and get to your goal. I am contemplating getting one more MJ pen and trying to stretch it out, and then use Wegovy to maintain maybe.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I switched
I dont love it.
Looking at my weigh ins, ive lost 8lb in thr last month.
There are side effects. Which are crap.
Im nearly at BMI tho so sticking with it for one more month. Then... I dunno
Maybe a low does of MJ for a while or a lower dose of W to maintain. Someone at work reckons thr gummies aren't bad.
So in short... ive lost thr weight. Im pretty unsettled. Not sure I would be happier if I was forking out for MJ. Its a tough call.

Can I ask what side effects you're getting? Different to the standard MJ side effects?

I'm starting to dread it! I'm hoping for a switch amd not to notice any difference, but seems that is unlikely 😬

I'm almost identical to you, took my last dose (10mg, as that was left in end of pen, but usually take 8.5mg) of mj on Friday evening and have a 1.7mg wegovy in fridge and another 10mg pen MJ in fridge.
I'm bmi 23.2 so strictly speaking I'm OK bmi wise but would like to lose a little more and not ruin my hard work by gaining on W. I have seen some good reviews, mostly from 1.7mg doses and above, the lower ones don't work as well from what I've seen.
I was thinking of trying W next week as I have the MJ pen as a back up if it doesn't work well! I've also got some liquid berberine which I know helps curb my hunger on snacky days so I'll use that if I have to.
I did see a post from someone on fbook who moved from 10 to 1.7 and has lost 8lbs in 3 weeks after stalling on 10mg. Another of my friends is on 2.4mg from 15mg and found it is super strong suppression where 15mg had worn off, so there are some out there.

OnlyCosy · 17/11/2025 07:13

@Mysticmaiden Thanks so much for that! That's exactly what I needed to hear. Feeling far more optimistic now. I'll hold off buying another MJ and give the Wegovy a good try.
Thanks again, and good luck for your switch 🤞

I switched and have slowly continued losing! A little bit more will power needed but I'm thinking that it will be easier to maintain from wegovy than MJ!! Took a good 4 weeks before it truly kicked in. I'm on 1mg and will stay on that for the remainder of my journey....

Go for it!!

What dose of mj were you on before? Good to hear the positive review

I switched having been on MJ since April and lost 2 stone. I had to come off in August for an operation and due to been off for 3 weeks I had to restart - very annoying as when the price increase happened people were been given advice that they could still take their usual dose for the same time frame that I'd been off MJ (2 weeks and 4 days) however I ended up going back to 2.5- then 5mg and not losing anything. I've since switched to W at 0.5 and since sept I've gained 7lbs. In that time I was working back up from 2.5 so my weight gain has been during that time. I'm now on week 3 off O.5 and I've lost 2 lbs and finally have a feeling of suppression. If anything I feel overly suppressed so w is deffo working for me now. Will update at end of the month but so far I'm happy after 10 weeks of gains and nothing I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere again. I was a slow loser on MJ and have 5 stone to get to a healthy BMI so I'm in this for the long haul.

Similar position here, I’ve lost just over 7 stone since last December, and I am around about a stone away from revised target. I am currently on 15mg, the last couple of months my weight loss has been slow, around about half a stone. I’m so scared about staring wegovy - I have 1.7 mg in the fridge. I have 1 dose of MJ left for this week then will be starting. Everywhere I look it seems that it doesn’t work and people wish they hadn’t switched but cost wise I just cannot afford to stay on MJ.

Hi, I was on 5mg and just thinking of going up... Tbh, I'm glad I moved over as it's been slow and steady and that's healthier. 😊

We have the same worries! 🥵

Although, my weightloss has slowed even though I'm only having around 1000 cals a day at best. Maybe Wegovy will be a good way to switch it up. Or disastrous ...Not long until I find out I guess 😰

My friend went from 15mg to 1.7mg, she said it was ok, better energy and actually enjoys her food but then went up to 2.4mg which she said gives her strong suppression, where 15mg had worn off and she was having to take it every 5 days.

This is so reassuring, my suppression is still good on 8mg, but the fatigue is pretty bad and it'd be lovely to have more energy again. I've stopped worrying now as I've realised how unhealthy it actually feels to be so concerned about this, the worry of gaining weight is a little irrational I feel. Almost as though I have convinced myself that I cannot lose weight without the jab. Trying to move away from that mindset otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of being healthy!

The sulphur burbs are worse when I dont eat, which is weird but the biggest difference is the diarrhoea. With MJ it slowed my digestion (dame on wegovey) but if I ate something it didn't agree with, that would (without being ovely graphic) leave me running for the next day.
With wegovey there is little rhyme or reason to it. There is a lot more 'running' which is unpleasant. But im now 3lbs from bmi and still forgetting to eat (same as MJ), generally well enough to exercise (lurgy aside) and have taken up jogging in the last 3 weeks.
All in all, the swap and saving has been worth it for me, but if you asked me on a bad stomach day I may be less positive.

OnlyCosy · 26/11/2025 09:35

I took my first shot of Wegovy (1.7mg) last night. Not keen on the way you inject the pen, quite different to Mounjaro but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

Woke up feeling slightly sickly, but nothing really noteworthy. I guess I'll just see how it goes. Will update for anyone reading this that is also switching 😊

I'm 3 days in, and other than the first day (bit of tiredness, very slight nausea) and a slightly off tummy today, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I'm getting the same suppression so far 🤞
Hope it goes well for you, don't make the same mistake as me when injecting - take the pen out of the fridge for an hour before injecting. Otherwise it stings as liquid is going in 😟

I had my second Wegovy dose yesterday, I am definitely eating more and able to eat more. Which I feel is actually a good thing. My energy levels are better and I just feel better overall. I feel like Wegovy hinders appetite but doesn't really reduce it. But again, I think this is a good thing. On Mounjaro I never felt hungry or hunger pains. But on Wegovy they have returned.
So far I am pleased and happy to lose the last stone slowly in exchange for more energy and eating a bit more.

I took my second dose a few days ago and found similar to @OnlyCosy i feel more interested in food, not that Mounjaro completely took away my appetite but I definitely feel more hunger pangs than before, and I don’t fill up as much as I did on MJ. As I’ve around a stone to lose as well I’m happy to just continue on wegovy as I can’t afford to pay for 15mg of MJ! I think I will order the 2.4 mg pen next.
I didn’t have any side effects with MJ and none so far with wegovy

I'm on my third dose, I actually think I love it. I'd not be so thrilled if I still had 3 or 4 stone to go, but it feels much better losing the last stone slowly and getting to eat a bit more. I can choose healthier foods on Wegovy, because MJ took away my appetite to the point I was just eating whatever I could manage.

I've ordered another 1.7mg pen, hoping to taper off after that.

So far it's a thumbs up from me :)
