Is there actually any evidence of this? I have blurred vision and struggle to see but also take prescription antihistamines so I thought for me it is this. As they dry my eyes. I also have reading glasses for astigmatism.

It gas scared me a bit. Can someone talk me down?

But his eyes seem to have deteriorated in a matter of months-that’s not normal ageing.

It really is. One day your eyesight/current prescription seems fine, the next you can’t seem to read the labels on anything 🤣. I’m sure from a physiological pov it’s more gradual but that doesn’t mean from a noticing pov it is. And certainly a few months of deterioration is normal. Not like he’s saying he woke up overnight nearly blind.

Why would his eyesight be deteriorating at the relatively young age of 51? What has your opinion of him being “such a twat” got to do with anything?

Because it is a medical fact, More and more of my friends and colleagues have at least reading glasses. Go for a meal in a restaurant and half the table of 50 somethings will have admitted defeat and got readers then there will always be a couple with their phone light out as they are in denial!

pinklilys · 16/11/2025 07:22

When I was prescribed this (Ozempic) the one side effect the nurse actually told me was ‘it can cause blindness’ and there are cases suit has. It is incredibly rare but that is no consolation if you’re the one it’s happened to!

My vision has changed and got blurry. I’ve been to the opticians and have mild cataracts developing. I’m 50, I suspect it would have been happening regardless.

Do you have family history or diabetes?

50 is still young for this to start to develop.

MadeOneMistakeGotBurnedAtTheStake · 16/11/2025 07:32

Folate deficiency can cause vision problems, perhaps for some WLI users who aren’t actually following a healthy diet it’s a case of nutrition issues.

goldenskiesandsilverlarks · 16/11/2025 07:49

When I first started on the jabs my dad randomly brought it up in conversation with his heart consultant (at the time my dad was also obese and was asking if it was an option for him, as it was working so well for me), and his consultant said the only reason he was hesitant was because there was some early reports of the jabs causing worsening diabetic retinopathy.

I have family history, yes.

I'm also suddenly worried about this as I've been taking MJ for 6 months and last week my optician told me I have glaucoma on my left eye. Apparently NAIOM is often mistaken for glaucoma, as they both involve blind spots and damage to the optic nerve... And NAIOM is the condition that can be caused by WLIs. I guess I'm going to need to see what gets confirmed once I see a specialist... I honestly had no idea that this was a risk. This article describes the deal... Rapid changes in blood sugar levels and dehydration can affect the optic nerve, apparently 😕

Vision loss: GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic linked to 3 eye conditions

A new review reports that nine people taking semaglutide and tirzepatide — the active ingredient in GLP-1 medications — experienced vision issues, including three potentially blinding eye conditions.

MJ user here since January 25. Had eye test in May finally needed glasses after years of being borderline.

Come November eyes just feel dry and blurry most days so went back to opticians.

Prescription changed since May so eyesight has got worse in 6 months. I think it is something to do with MJ but I will continue.

Kazzaa46 · 16/11/2025 15:40

From what I understand he just needs glasses now. It’s very normal for a man of his age to have deteriorating eyesight and start to need glasses.

My husband is the same age and has had perfect vision his whole life but at his recent eye test he now needs them for distance and reading and has needed to get varifocals. He’s not on MJ, he was told it’s a normal thing to happen in middle age.

RedToothBrush · 16/11/2025 15:45

Robbie is at an age where eye sight decline is normal.

The last visit I had to the optician, they said that 46 was the average age at which decline starts.

Robbie is 51 so should EXPECT to be experiencing a potential decline.

Robbie is attributing a correlation as causation.

Until there's a scientific study that confirms more concerning data than one man starting to lose his sight at a typical age for losing his sight, I'd take what Robbie says as

A FUCKING LOAD OF ABSOLUTE BOLLOCKS.

God bless Robbie but I honestly think he will say anything in order to try and remain relevant.

TheCheekySloth · 16/11/2025 17:43

All this ozempic MJ jabs botox & fillers i believe the true side of health related issues will spike up in a few years.
And they will be plenty of people to say we told you so.

Is it worth the risk.

Appalonia · 16/11/2025 17:51

But why was he on it anyway? He wasn't obese, didn't even seem overweight!

Thats sounds the same for a lot of people.

SilenceInside · 16/11/2025 18:30

@TheCheekySloth why do you sound so utterly gleeful at anticipating the prospect of health issues for people using the things you listed? It’s a really weird attitude to have. You are looking forward to being able to say I told you so?

That's about spot on for me then. Always had 20 20 vision, but the last 4 years or so my vision has declined, and I have to wear reading glasses. I was 50 this year.

SilenceInside · 16/11/2025 18:35

@Appalonia Williams lives in the US and is very wealthy. He will have easily been able to see a very high end doctor who will have been persuaded to prescribe. It’s a very different model to the UK with different rules, guidelines and socially acceptable behaviours.

Regarding “doesn’t seem overweight”, I have had many people tell me that I couldn’t be overweight or obese when my BMI was still around 30. I could start Mounjaro with a BMI of 27 as I have high BP. No one believes that I could lose another 3 stone and still be in the healthy weight range now my BMI is in the 26 range. People are bad at judging if someone is overweight or obese, unless they are very obese.

Im not gleeful and i really dont wish anyone any health issues either.
Its just my opinion nothing more than a comment.

What about the health risks of being obese?

FoxRedPuppy · 16/11/2025 18:52

PeachSnail · 16/11/2025 17:01

That study says there does seem to be an increased risk, but further studies are needed to determine causality.

Im not a doctor i dont have the answers.
I added a comment like everyone else.

SilenceInside · 16/11/2025 19:03

@TheCheekySloth the risks to health of being obese are many and varied, including an increased risk of cancer, stroke, heart disease, liver disease, and so on. Reducing weight from obese to healthy using Mounjaro reduces your overall risk of serious health issues in the short and long term. Hence it being a recommended treatment for obesity. It is no more or less likely to have as-yet-unknown serious side effects discovered as any other fairly recently developed medication. It’s fascinating how people seem to hook onto this one medication to be convinced there is some impending future issue coming. I wonder why this particular medication gets that level of attention and other medications do not?
