Is there actually any evidence of this? I have blurred vision and struggle to see but also take prescription antihistamines so I thought for me it is this. As they dry my eyes. I also have reading glasses for astigmatism.

It gas scared me a bit. Can someone talk me down?

Well it states in the article that there's no known link, and that there's been a couple of hundred cases of deteriorating eyesight reported. There are millions of people taking Mounjaro. That would suggest that any eye problems you are having are likely just eye problems, that you should follow up with as you would if you wasn't on the jabs, and that any possible issues affect a tiny tiny % of users.

But honestly, if side effects are that much of a concern to you- are you sure the jabs are for you?

H202too · 15/11/2025 09:20

I have been taking for 18 months. Tapering down. So the ship has sailed. But thanks for your point.
You are absolutely right.

Even that deliberately scaremongering article explains that he went to an optician and had his eye sight checked. It will be age related vision change, as per the author of the article who had the same. If you are concerned about your eye sight have a check with an optician. I have had my regular check up whilst being on Mounjaro and not had any issues found, if that helps.

EditorInChief · 15/11/2025 09:24

Robbie's such a drama queen at the best of times. I wonder what his optician actually told him.

MrsMiagi · 15/11/2025 09:25

There isnt a confirmed link yet but like all medications there are risks. The article said there are reports of it having caused eyesight issues. You have to assess the risks and determine if they are worth it. My eyesight is worse which I put down to hours at my work laptop. I told the opticians I use mounjaro and they hadn't detected any issues but perhaps there is some weight to the claims.
The only option we have to eliminate risk is to stop using the medication. I'm not ready to do that yet so will aee how I get on

H202too · 15/11/2025 09:35

It has scared me. Not gas. That's my sausage fingers not the blur. 😶

My vision has changed and got blurry. I’ve been to the opticians and have mild cataracts developing. I’m 50, I suspect it would have been happening regardless.

FionnulaTheCooler · 15/11/2025 09:40

He's always been an attention seeking tool, did you see the way he acted during his wife's labour.

littleburn · 15/11/2025 09:42

For balance, being obese has proven implications for eye health.

GAJLY · 15/11/2025 09:48

That is strange you say that because my friend is on that, and her eyes are alot worse now! I wonder if it is related? She is only 42. Perhaps the side effect hasn't been listed because it's a long term thing also difficult to prove a link?

fourelementary · 15/11/2025 09:57

The issue is that people who are NOT obese are on WL medication. So they are risking health issues through WLI rather than obesity related. And the number of people on these drugs for life or for maintaining long term is terrifying as there is very little long term evidence of the effects. We will be learning through the “skinny guineas” I guess- and I hope their smaller clothing labels are worth it.

CareerChange24 · 15/11/2025 10:06

This has really worried me too. I did see a young woman say they had caused her to be “blind” but I couldn’t click on the article - daily mail.

OnlyOnAFriday · 15/11/2025 10:08

Maybe it’s just his age and he needs bifocals?

Thebigonesgetaway · 15/11/2025 12:27

Robbie is such a twat at the best of times, there is no evidence it’s linked to mounjaro and the man’s 51, his eye sight would be deteriorating, 😂

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/11/2025 12:41

I’m T2 diabetics, with many things wrong with my eyes and I’m on Mounjaro. I’m being closely monitored and do have signs of the beginnings of macular degeneration since starting Mounjaro so am getting scans every 3 months.

There are links between Mounjaro and eye issues HOWEVER not necessarily because of mo7njqro and it’s important to understand that in this case it’s not straightforward.

Obesity causes/can be caused by insulin resistance which causes high blood glucose, high blood glucose causes nerve and blood vessel damage, eyes have an intricate network of very fine blood vessels which can be easily damaged which is why diabetics get eye screenings as part of their routine checks.

Now here’s the kicker, much like how gallstones are caused by both gaining weight and losing weight. Blood vessels in your eyes can be affected by both increased blood sugar levels and a sharp decrease in blood sugar levels. Generally what they find is that when there’s been a sudden drop in blood sugar that the damage is temporary but that’s not guaranteed.

As with anything medical and side effect related, the important thing is to take notice, get checked, and follow advice.

Why would his eyesight be deteriorating at the relatively young age of 51? What has your opinion of him being “such a twat” got to do with anything?

And why are you aggressive on a char forum . So many unanswered questions…😂

WeAllHaveWings · 15/11/2025 14:10

There are links to eye issues with age, obesity, blood sugar changes, blood pressure changes, dehydration, nutrition. So may not be MJ directly.

My eyes are worse since I started MJ 16 months ago. I've had a full, extended, examination with my optician, all seems well, and my prescription has not increased at a more significant rate than the previous 6-7 years I've needed glasses for short distances.

Most of my family started wearing glasses in their late 40s/early 50s, and I see it with some work colleagues and friends the same age too - pretty common at that age.

RuncibleSpoons · 15/11/2025 14:14

I was on MJ last year. At my last optician’s appointment, my prescription has actually gone down from -2 to -1.75. I
put it down to taking NMN which seems to have all sorts of benefits.

heartofsunshine · 15/11/2025 14:17

Diabetes causes blindness so I would have thought this would improve outcomes for most people??

There is loads of data and Lilly have done long term trials. These drugs have been used for years and are licensed and approved for long term use. I don’t think there’s anything “terrifying” about it nor do I agree long term users are Guinea pigs

Eyesight starts deteriorating from around age 40, so it's not surprising he's noticed some changes at 51.

But his eyes seem to have deteriorated in a matter of months-that’s not normal ageing.

perimenopoppet · 16/11/2025 06:09

What a lot of scaremongering nonsense. Do better Robbie. Shame on him really as someone who has benefited from mounjaro after well known struggles with his weight, for making these claims knowing full well it will be splashed all over the press and no doubt prevent some users who would have benefited. Of course of all the substances he’s taken at the age where it’s typical it must be the mounjaro causing eye deterioration. FFS
