Help needed re side affects

I have only had one Mounjaro jab last week and have had such bad diarrhoea and nausea. I had to take day off work today as felt exhausted. I’m worries about having another dose tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this, is it likely to pass once my body gets used to it?

It sounds too long after the injection for it to be a side effect. There's horrible other illnesses going around at present that are causing exhaustion etc.

Fluffypiece · 14/11/2025 21:07

Sorry to hear that op. I found side effects completely linked to what I’ve eaten especially the day before, day of, and day after the jab. On these days I am scrupulous about not eating any fatty, sweet food. Not overindulging even in healthy food and definitely no alcohol- can you remember what you ate?

TootieFrooties · 14/11/2025 21:07

How many days ago? I agree that it might be something else.

Bunnyrun5 · 14/11/2025 21:11

I did the jab last Sunday so only 5 days I’d felt fine up until today, sorry to hear graphic but I’ve pretty much spent day on the loo! Stomach cramps sulphur taste in my mouth. I’ve not felt like eating anything just about managed small amount of yoghurt n fruit. 🍈

I had this two times after my 4th injection about a week after I took the jab. It happened both times at exactly the same point and I had the sulphur burps too. It was horrible and exhausting.

Would be unusual for this to be the drug when you’re five days in with one starter dose, I’d also assume it’s something you’ve eaten,

alecks · 14/11/2025 22:49

I’m confused. Have you had diarrhoea since you did the jab or just today?

She felt fine for the first 5 days, was only yesterday, she got the runs.

Poor thing, it's rotten to feel like that.

In your shoes I'd inject a half dose of 1.25. I did my first 4 weeks on 1.25 and still lost 12lb.

IsItSnowing · 15/11/2025 09:55

It could be linked to what you're eating. It's hard to tell that late in the week although I find the jab effect isn't linear at all and sometimes my suppression is greater midweek than just after taking it.
Try to eat as clean as possible and be wary of starting to eat too much protein too quickly. A lot of people advocate for a high protein diet on the jab but it doesn't suit everyone. I keep my protein moderate and it has got rid of the stomach issues I had.

Take a critical look at what you ate and drank the day before this all started. Sometimes it can be something pretty harmless today causes a side effect flare up.

My doctor recommended that I wait until I'm side effect free for 48 hours before the next injection when this happens, and if it happens because of a dose increase, then reduce the next one a bit.

For me, I've been on MJ for a year and only had bad side effect weeks twice in that time. So often these can be temporary.

Thank you for all your advice, I’m pretty sure it isn’t anything I’ve eaten as only had bland home cooked meals during last week. I’m still feeling rough today but bottom probs seem calmer. I’m taking yr advice and not going to do second jab until Monday. I’ve lost confidence now that I can tolerate this jab.

Can I just ask do other mounjaro users have these symptoms after jab, how long do they take to subside. Has anyone stopped using jabs because of these symptoms? Thank you for advice

I have felt nauseous and “off” towards the end of the week when I’m due my next jab despite feeling fine for the first 6 days. I find when I take my next jab I feel better again. I’m not saying it’s the same for you but might be worth seeing.
My body doesn’t seem to like lower levels of MJ. I increased to 5mg and feel way better than I did on the lower doses of 2.5 and 3.75.

@Bunnyrun5 is there anything you have eaten yesterday that you haven't eaten the rest of the week - even "bland homemade food" can cause some people issues - some people react to too much dairy, whey based protein drinks, starchy foods - rice/potatoes/pasta, fats - butter/oil. Some fruit are high sugar etc. - not everyone is triggered by everything, or even anything, but in the early days you might need to pinpoint what yours are and take them in moderation until your body adjusts to the medication.

Unfortunately it is part and parcel of the journey to have side effects sometimes. Your pharmacy might be able to help with something to help manage them.
