We have all been on for heading up to 17mths now- we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

The amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+
in a year

We are amazing !!!

All of us have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

most of us are at goal - and working out how to maintain - some nearing it
And some still have weight they want to lose

We are still here cheering you on till you get to your happy weight so please do carry on posting

Some have stopped for cost - esp after the aug announcements - still so thankful we started it when we did

Imagine Aug 25 and being told 2/3w later prices were increasing lots - I def couldn’t have managed a year of mj at new sept prices esp as doses didn’t really effect me even 15 !

ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

This next year will almost be harder.

To keep the weight off Esp if reducing dose or off completely

only 2 words to say 😂😂

@FurForksSake beware the cake, and especially the chocolate brownie!

Today I ate full fat greek yogurt, nuts and seeds and some frozen berries for breakfast; a bowl of tomato and lentil soup for lunch, with a later snack of oatcakes and some hummus; and for dinner, chicken and veg ((broccoli, peas, spinach) with basmati rice. That was about 1100 cals. A brownie might have been anything from a third to nearly a half of those calories. So what would I have swapped? What would I have missed outin nutrition? Or what would I have accidentally added to my tdee?

For me, the chocolate brownie (however delicious on rare occasions) sets up 2 difficult things. One is that it triggers a longing for more. More sugar, more stodge, more carb.. and the other is that I understand the calories, and the carbs, so I'm then trying to manage the rest of the day on 2 eggs and a few almonds - and (unsurprisingly I feel deprived and 'on a diet').

Can you ask ds to bring you a different treat tomorrow? A handmade craft item, a picture that someone has drawn, an ornament for your Christmas tree? You will be teaching him that 'treats' are so much more than sugar.

Chicken Kiev bake sounds amazing. Definitely going to get one of those in the next time I'm home alone.

I've gone down to 10 now after dithering for ages about maintenance, and I'm feeling the difference in a good way. I've been so unhungry on 12.5 that it's been hard to make any choices about food. Nothing with a flavour or a texture appealed. I'm not hungry now on 10 (not yet, anyways) but interested enough in food to make sure that I'm eating more of the right stuff. I had a rare lunch out with colleagues this week and they all got cake to take back to the office after, but it didn't even register in my brain as interesting. I'd love to be able to keep that distance from food as time goes on.

8st4 this morning. 2lbs off goal. So close now, and that’s the very bottom of my goal zone I think. I’m 5ft2, so it’s not too low but it’s also quite light really. I’m hoping I can maintain over Christmas.

Well done! I am only grazing 5 foot and am happy with 8 stone 5 pounds..my top limit would be 8 stone 8 then I would panic!

Azuresky68 · 29/11/2025 10:15

@20bloodypounds great advice! I am maintaining now on 7.5. Always had a sweet tooth but can't bring myself to eat cake or brownies..due to huge amount of calories and sugar. I did have a lovely slice of Victoria Sponge cake a couple of months ago. I adore mince pies but one is not enough so will avoid completely this year! Trying to make healthy sweet treats like baked oats with fruit added in but not on a daily basis. It is very hard though if you have a sweet tooth 😫

The steak and cheese dumplings is nice

i have these 3 for work nights

Thank goodness for Aldi..I have tried most of them apart from beef and cheese dumplings...they are on the list!

FurForksSake · 29/11/2025 10:31

The world’s largest ball of tape… and a baby rack of ribs! I’m at goal! I really don’t want to lose any more now. I’m at a weight that if I lost 7lbs I’d be at the very bottom of healthy so I feel like that’s a good place to stop.

I don’t think I’ll maintain this low in the long term, it seems people tend to gain through inflammation when they stop mj completely, so I’m happy that if that happens I’ll still be close to my goal envelope.

My long term plan is to stay on 2.5 for as long as I can afford it I think. I’m on 12.5 and will do a slow taper from January. I’m currently going 8-9 days between so I’m hoping I’ll be able to do 10 every 7 days and then once I’m used to it push out again and then go down.

im not going to work out maintenance calories till January I think, ill just carry on largely as I have been and then play around. I’ll want some leeway for Christmas! I think i maintained last year or lost, but I definitely can eat more than I could then.

2026 I’ve got to build muscle though, my body fat is still 30% apparently!

So if you lost 7 bmi be 19/20 or lower

FurForksSake · 29/11/2025 13:35

7lbs would take me down to 19.6, so technically still healthy but very much on the cusp. Lower limit is 18.5, which is 11lbs away.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/11/2025 19:24

there seems to be roughly 2s diff between top and bottom end of healthy weight so even if you gained a 1/2 a stone then be healthy weight

Yes, isn't it a 'treat' to remember the lovely slice of Victoria sponge. It's not the same kind of treat if it's everday.

Our nomadic ancestors would mostly eat meat and veg. But every so often (maybe once or twice a year) they'd find a honeycomb and gorge themselves silly. Then they'd lay around for days waiting for the sugar overload to pass. Thank goodness our bodies have insulin or they would have died!

But the bottom line is that our bodies still function (mostly) like that and will cope with a very sweet item once or twice a year. It's the constant carbs and sugars which can lead to insulin resitance. Our world constantly tempts us with an available 'honeycomb'. Even if it is not sugary and sweet it is something that converts very easily to sugar in our bodies. I don't have typically sweet tooth but show me a pastry item or a sausage roll... It all breaks down damn quick into glucose.

Being on MJ for 15? months has helped me adjust what I buy, what I cook (as well as portion size etc). I will still be tempted by the aroma of a hot pastie as I pass a shop but most of the time I can walk on by.

morbidcuriosity · 02/12/2025 09:36

Well my attempt at maintaining my weight is going well.. try to maintain between 10.10 and 11 stone. And I'm now 10.8. Haha. That's fine but was eating more. Odd.

FurForksSake · 02/12/2025 09:56

Well done @morbidcuriosity! I read something someone wrote about insulin resistance, that when we were larger we were dealing with insulin resistance and that made losing weight pretty impossible. Now we are in smaller bodies we don’t have the same insulin resistance and so it’s easier to maintain? I don’t know if that’s true, I just go and research it, but it sounded interesting!

That was like me. I kept dropping so now my ballpark is 7lbs less

Has anyone used Bolt? It appears that 10 mg is around £190 on the MJ comparison price chart. I only looked because Bolt popped up on my FB feed...they are all madly advertising at the moment!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/12/2025 19:38

No but use anyone that’s cheap

20bloodypounds · 02/12/2025 19:42

I do think that for some of us, insulin resistance has diminished and our bodies are behaving in the way they were supposed to.

Normally, the food we eat is converted into glucose (our body’s easiest energy source), which enters our bloodstream and lets the pancreas know that it’s time to release insulin. Insulin 'unlocks' our cells so they can take it in glucose and covert it into energy. That's why, when we are exhausted, a mars bar [other glucose sources are available] instantly gives us a boost of energy if we're flagging. At the same time, increased insulin signals to our livers to store any excess glucose to be used later (stored in the form of glycogen - in case anyone is interested!). It's wonderful and amazing. A short term way for our bodies to store extra glucose. When we are sleeping or not eating, and we need energy (for day-to-day metabolism or for somethng that requires effort) our liver will release glucose for our cells to use. THIS is what a normal metabolism was designed to do.

If there is excess glucose i.e. more energy taken in than we use on an ongoing basis, the liver stores that as fatty acids which pass into the bloodstream and is eventually stored in the rest of our body as fat. It is why we put on weight.

It is all a perfect way for our bodies to work if we eat a stable healthy diet or if we have variable or scarce access to food. e.g. our primitive ancestors. They needed to store excess glucose when they found a nut tree, or a bush full of berries, or an antelope. And they needed sytems to store that short term (glycogen) and long term (fat).

But that's not the western world that most of us live in. There is not scarce access to food, there are constant temptations and frequent opportunities.

So when too much sugar (whether from actual sugar or from carbs that are quickly broken down into sugars) enters our bloodstream, the pancreas has to pump out larger-than-anticipated amounts of insulin. Eventually, the cells become desensitised to the excess amount of insulin and stop responding properly, resulting in higher-than-normal blood glucose levels. Elevated glucose and insulin levels in the blood promote fatty acid production in our livers. These are passed out into our bodies and we get fatter.

This is insulin resistance.

It is really hard for anyone who is insulant resistant to any degree to lose weight and reverse their resistance (not impossible, but very hard). The internal system is now working against them.

The wonder of MJ has allowed many of to do what was previously impossible. To opt out of refined carbs and sugars; to prioritise proteins; to choose healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, fish oils); to choose carbs and veg which are high in fibre and break down more slowly.

Our metabolisms are rewarding us and doing a happy dance!

Really annoying...just filled in form then actual cost is £249! But there was no evidence required so far. I might as well stick with Oushk as I have £25 discount because I signed up to maintenance for £5 ..total cost is £254 for 10 mg pen I think 🤔 or even better Pharmulous at £239.99 for 10 mg according to price list you gave us Blondes. I need it delivering by 12th December

morbidcuriosity · 02/12/2025 19:57

My next 10 I'm gonna go to pharmalous at 239. But with the black Friday deals I think IQ and oushk were about the same, think maybe still today, IQ ends tonight I think.
I didn't get one in the end as waiting to start pharmalous as my bmi is 21 now so got to be careful where I go as want to keep getting it. So gonna try pharmalous as they will offer maintenence, I may tweek my weight a bit for my first pen to make sure they let me have one. (I know, shouldn't really, but hey ho)
