Already posted this in the wrong place. Will start a new treat as not to muddy the treat for those coming off with a restart topic. Unfortunately can’t delete the other post. Will report myself Apologies.

I came off MJ a few months ago — definitely the right call for me. It just didn’t agree with me at all, and I felt unwell pretty much every day while on the injections.
Since stopping, I’ve still managed to lose weight (slowly but surely, which I’m really happy about!). I have just over a stone to go to get to goal.

But with Christmas coming up, I don’t totally trust myself not to go overboard. I really don’t want to undo all the progress I’ve made this year.
So… I’ve decided to start Wegovy. Picking it up after work today and starting tonight, with the plan to come off again in January. I am a bit nervous about feeling sick again, but honestly, I’m more worried about all the festive food calling my name!
Hoping sone appetite suppression will kick in by December. . I’m starting on the low dose for at least a month to see how I go. Stocked up on anti-sickness tablets, Pepto Bismol, Gaviscon, Dulcoease, and Imodium — just in case.
Anyone else making plans to get through the Christmas period. Ideas, tips and tricks anyone?

thank you

Well done on your weight loss first of all and I understand your trepidation regarding over indulgence at Christmas, but not sure starting a medication that is known to have more gastrointestinal side effects, and is less effective than mounjaro would help you, when only taking it for a short time. Most of the people I know who swapped over say its a complete waste of time at best and it's made them sick at worst,

FurForksSake · 07/11/2025 10:22

I hope it helps even as a placebo, I believe wegovy takes some months to kick in?

I can’t go back to MJ — it made me feel awful, and I didn’t even finish the last pen before throwing it away. Some of my colleagues at work have done well on Wegovy (they never tried MJ), so I’ve decided to give that a go. I’m starting now in case the side effects are too much, so I can stop before the Christmas period if needed. I have to admit, I’m quite nervous about trying Wegovy and have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

Same. Hope I haven’t left it too late. Fingers crossed it will work by December time.

Could you try tracking, intermittent fasting and 80/20 eating alongside it? Don’t wait for willpower or motivation, just one meal at a time head down and plough through?

weericky · 07/11/2025 11:53

These medications are not made for ‘as and when’ like paracetamol though. All the ‘just in case’ meds you have stocked up alone must be telling you this is a bad idea?

IsItSnowing · 07/11/2025 12:14

I hope it goes better for you.
I've not tried Wegovy myself but a lot of people get nasty side effects on that too. So I hope you find it suits you better.

That’s what I have been doing since coming of MJ. Just wished a had enough self belief in myself not to need the jabs over Christmas.

Christmas is one day, plus maybe a couple of social events? Letting up on those and staying consistent the rest of the month as you have been will see you through. Avoid the bloody shops!

There are plenty of good reviews and feedback for W too. I know someone who went from 15mg M just maintained for months, poor suppression and low energy and mood and to 1.7mg W better suppression and no side effects, even better said her energy has come back and can exercise and do a lot more than on M.
I'll be moving on to it soon too as hoping helps with 10 months of hair loss and very low energy and motivation. You can only try and see how you get on.

The ladies here at work also said they didn’t have issues with side effects which is one of the reasons I’d thought I’d give it a go. Hair-loss isn’t something I had issues with on MJ but low energy definitely. Maybe it was because my diet wasn’t very good. I could only tolerate bland foods like white toast, plain pasta etc.

I have a friend who used Wegovy, tried MJ once she was in maintenance and didn’t get on with it at all, so happily went back to Wegovy, she’s not had any sickness with it (but did with MJ).
I hope it works for you.

Aah, I can see why you might want to change if your diet included toast and pasta, haven't touched either of those in months, and I definitely wouldn't have lost all the weight eating that. I ate protein heavy and v low carb no alcohol, on mj, now off it and much the same, the thought of alcohol or something greasy makes my stomach heave even off it, same with bread, never had that previously on a diet, complete opposite usually. Weird how mj works brilliantly for some but not others.
