Weight loss stalled so having a reset

I have noticed since starting a new pen I haven't lost any weight. I can eat more too but wasn't necessarily more hungry. I have gone from 5mg to 7.5 and it's not made any difference. In how I feel or weight lost.

So last week I just ate what I wanted and when. This week I'm back to religiously counting calories and drinking water. I'm going to see if I can actually loose some weight this week for a change.

Not sure if having a week off caring what I ate was a good idea but I'm six months in now. I just felt like I need a time out. Really hope I can get back to actually loosing again.

Have you rechecked your calories on tdeecalculator.net as it changes when we lose weight. My maintenance is 1530 currently so to lose I have to eat very low calories which is why I probably have hair loss from month 3 onwards, and still do at month 13. I've only lost 1lb a week, and around 5 weeks in the whole time I haven't lost and have maintained which was due to higher carbs.

Are you tracking macros and aiming for higher protein? It really does make a difference. I lost 5lbs in October and I'm at bmi 22.9 9st 3lbs now so it is possible to lose regardless of size etc. I do check my smart scales which tell me it is fat. My muscle mass has always been on the higher end for a woman which helps burn more calories.
Lastly drinking water is important for fat loss so if you don't drink enough already, increase that.
I've thought of having a break but I'm a control freak, last Xmas I only had 1000 cals while the whole world was stuffing their faces but hey ho I figured the end goal was better. I haven't even had pasta or a takeaway in the whole 13 months, let alone biscuits and cakes.

Some people swear by the ‘refereeing’ method. Let us know works.

Not sure if this is relevant but some people (on group I’m part of) find 7.5 a weird dose. I recall people saying hunger came back at 7.5, in a big way.

i think a break is good. Resets the mind and body, and there’s some evidence that suggests it gives the metabolism a bit of a reset too after long periods of low calories.

Interesting about the set point theory. I have stayed the same weight for a month now going up and down or so a pound a month. I'm tracking my calories this week and I'm pretty sure I'm very close or under my TDEE. My goal is 1200 and yesterday I ate 973. I'm intermittent fasting and was doing this pre jabs. So I only have lunch and dinner and fruit / yogurt as a snack its pretty hard to eat more calories if lunch is 200-300 calories.

I wish I was seeing a bit more weight loss this far into my journey. I started at 15.7 in May and I'm 13.3 today.

My weight loss the last few months has slowed. I recently went on holiday and pretty much ate what I wanted and still no loss (or gain) so not sure about a reset but just my experience.
What I have now done (should have done sooner really) is checked my TDEE and been super strict on weighing and measuring. I've also started walking every day (10,000 steps) and pilates twice a week.
That seems to be working so I'm guessing my lack of a calorie deficit was the problem.

Will see what this week brings of being super strict at calorie counting

Hi, sorry I know this is super old but I just wanted to check (recommended thread) your maintenance calories seem so low?! Is that your BMR? Even at sedentary most are around 1800 even when I was 10 stone.

Now I think I’ve been eating too much! :D

Hi I am now in maintenance and have been for a month. I've been eating 1300-1500 a day and I haven't lost at all since this, in fact I've gained 1-2lbs, I attribute this to starting body toning classes with weights twice a week and eating a lot more carbs, so yes it is correct!
I'm 44, asian, so predisposition to high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease. I was actually prediabetic in sept 23 and mildly diabetic when i started mj in oct 24 with high blood pressure and cholesterol, asians have more visceral fat and a lower metabolism than caucasians, 5ft 3 and 9st 1-2lbs and an office job with lots of sitting around! I don't have kids so no-one to run around after either. I used tdeecalculator.net to work out my tdee and it is also similar to recommended by myfitnesspal app so it must be right.
