Endless problems - wygovy

Weightlossmisery · 01/11/2025 16:08

Started wygovy 2 months ago. At 0.25 initially had stomach pain, headaches, constipation that caused overflow and burst haemorrhoid (sorry tmi) side effects eased a bit although constipation hasnt and am now on laxatives from GP
Appetite suppression then pretty much stopped so went up to 0.5. Stomach pains, tiredness, headaches
I dont know what do do. I also find it so hard to eat healthy fulfilling meals when I have no appetite. I'm finding myself just snacking really.

Why havent you stopped taking it?

SilenceInside · 01/11/2025 17:39

If you want to continue taking it I would try to make a concerted effort to eat properly and in a way that will help with the side effects particularly the constipation. So, protein and leafy vegetables, fibre, lots of water alongside. Proper meals at mealtimes rather than snacking, even if the meals are smaller.

If you still don't feel right on Wegovy, you could consider trying Mounjaro instead perhaps?

I don’t understand the bit about snacking when you have no appetite. If you have no appetite then why would you snack? Sorry it makes no sense to me. If you are not hungry and food is just fuel then surely it would be easier to eat sensible meals? Am I missing something?

Because I'm desperate. Ive tried everything apart from surgery to lose weight for my whole life. It makes me miserable for most of every day. And because I feel like I've already spent a lot of money on two months on it.

I know it's more expensive but I think Mounjaro is better tolerated. You have given it (Wegovy) long enough; I would either swap to MJ or save for bariatric surgery.

MrsMiagi · 01/11/2025 19:47

Could you afford to try Mounjaro? I have read it can have less side effects

Eating regular small healthy snacks is fine, if you don’t feel like full meals. Would you like some ideas?

Maybe some form of therapy would help?

I've found, with my WLI journey, that the jabs make eating less much easier to do. But if your over eating is physiological, the jabs cannot change that.

As if you have low appetite, its OK not to eat fulfilling meals, including healthy ones. Lots of people eat fewer meals. Many only have one meal a day. Or two. Or use your 'snacks' in place of a meal. Some people may need physiological support to give themselves permission to eat less.

And drink lots. Most of the symptoms you describe could be dehydration.

Yes please, thank you

What are you snacking on at the moment and what do you like?

Prawns, crayfish tails, ready cooked chicken are easy sources of lean protein. Can mix with lemon, cucumber, avocado, tomato, whatever you like for a small meal/good snack. Hard boiled eggs and carrots, especially those small ones are nice.

I eat a Huel bar in the afternoon. UPF but I like them and they’re a convenient high protein, full nutrition snack.

I also have protein powder. Chocolate flavour in morning coffee, clear fruit at the gym.

PP who said you might want to up your liquid intake could have been onto something?

Are you taking any fibre supplements for the constipation?
