I've just collected my first supply and wondered if anyone wanted to join in with the journey! I'm on 2.5 and I'm 14st1, goal weight is 12 stone as that is my pre baby weight and we'll see how I feel once I've reached it!

any tips on when to take it each week? I'm going to avoid alcohol and even though snacking is my weakness I think purchasing a supply is going to make me stop in a weird way. Any tips gratefully received and if anyone wants to join the journey for support and no judgment here's the place!

@diggitydoo yes - now is a good time to order so you aren’t panicking about delays.

The golden dose is referring to using a syringe to extract the remaining liquid after you have had 4 doses from the pen. Typically there is sufficient liquid left to make a whole dose or a bit more, stretching each one to 5 doses and saving a lot of money.

You will need to buy sterile syringes - look for a chemist selling insulin syringes - and then on week 5, instead of starting your new pen, use the syringe to extract from your old pen.

It’s also a good time to switch with a lot of deals to move to a different supplier.

i switched and got a good discount.

TaffyTabby · 27/11/2025 13:52

Hello everyone! My first post. I’m a mum looking to lose 4-5 stone. I’m lifelong obese, and have dieted lots in the past but not really since I became a mum 4 years ago. I’ve been excited to try GLP having seen lots of people have amazing success. I’m on my third MJ jab this week. I had awful side effects in week two but now my kids have a tummy bug I’m wondering if it was all down to a virus.

Anyway I took a half dose this week to see if it helped. No side effects two days after but also not feeling as much appetite suppression - obviously. I’ll go back up to 2.5 next week. I’ve ordered a 5mg pen for next month, with a new provider. Going to try and keep the cost down as much as possible.

Overall I’m down 5lb, which came off quickly but has now slowed. I am so bad at patience! I’m trying to feel proud I’ve massively cut down processed food and snacks, and trust the process.

So helpful to have somewhere to off load all this info as I haven’t told many people in my life.

Does anyone else struggle to believe it’s going to work for them?

RoundandSad · 27/11/2025 14:27

@TaffyTabby at the amount people are losing, I'm beginning to think it might not work for me or at least not as much as it works for other people

I might need to start a thread for people who are losing very slowly. Weigh is technically tomorrow but I think it looks like 5lb in three weeks.

66babe · 27/11/2025 17:25

@RoundandSad don’t be disheartened, this is all a very personal journey so if it helping you lose consistently then I’d stick at it
If you not losing much and miserable , I’d rethink my options .

BelleEpoque27 · 27/11/2025 19:03

@RoundandSad Didn't you say you were only just over the required BMI? If so it would make sense you'll lose more slowly than someone who is, say, four stone overweight.

TaffyTabby · 27/11/2025 19:51

Hm yes agree with Belle if you don’t have as much to lose then that’s a great loss. I’ve lost 5lb in three weeks too but I have a lot to lose. I’m happy with that so far.

NoNewClothes · 27/11/2025 20:04

I’m losing very slowly too, but the ways things were I’m just glad not to be gaining! 3rd jab today and I’m only a few pounds down in total. Seems to be working for fullness and food noise so I’ll keep going.

Going to order 5mg for 2nd pen and try 3.75 dose to begin with.

BMI is about 30.5/31, had been slowly creeping up over the last year and I couldn’t seem to lose a pound.

tobee · 27/11/2025 20:09

I just had a Thanksgiving family dinner had plenty of vegetables, small bit of turkey meat, one small roast potato with gravy. I feel full. Not uncomfortably so but...

Normally I'd be pulling off bits more turkey and eating tons of roast potatoes and popping into the kitchen to eat some the leftovers all evening.

I drank water. Normally I'd have a few glasses of wine with a roast and that doesn't help with the self control. Happy with water though.

I know it's mounjaro. I know I'm a few jabs in but it's still weird. This is the first meal that I haven't just given myself a plate of and eaten. As in tonight I had an empty plate that I could help myself to shared dishes iyswim.

TheHappyHedgehog · 27/11/2025 21:06

Tomorrow will be the first jab from my second pen. My weigh in from exactly one month ago (28 Oct) gives me 6.7kg loss in the month (so a whole stone!). Very happy with that. A lot of that was week one when I could barely manage half a glass of milk but I’ve continued to lose although much more modestly.

Other than 4 days of solid headache in week 2 I’ve not had any unwanted side effects.

I did the golden dose last Friday and got the normal amount. Staying with 2.5 for the next pen that I start tomorrow then will need to switch suppliers and decide if I need to go up to 5mg or not.

Springbaby2023 · 27/11/2025 22:42

@TheHappyHedgehog that’s brilliant, well done you!

Springbaby2023 · 27/11/2025 22:49

@TaffyTabby @RoundandSad slow loser here too compared to others! Also not getting loads in the way of suppression or reduced food noise. Definitely a little bit of suppression but not a patch on what some people have. But keep reminding myself that 2.5 is all about getting your body used to it and also it’s much healthier to lose weight at a slower pace (and hopefully more sustainable in terms of keeping it off). I’m terribly impatient though which to be fair is probably why I can’t stick out any other diets. I did read about some people just weighing monthly, I do wonder if that would help me rather than fixating on a tiny loss each week.

yes, I suppose that is technically true that other people have more to lose

But I still wonder what the difference is if you see what I mean I mean even if I lost 2lb a week I would be pleased but 5lb in three weeks seems a bit rubbish especially as I feel this was a real last resort and a really extreme thing to do

Be interesting to see what weighing is tomorrow but that's where we are today Just 5lb

Don't forget you aren't even on what is considered a normal dose, some people dont even feel any effects till much higher doses.

If I dieted and kept under 1000 cals a day I'd lose 1-2lb a week but I'd be starving and thinking about food constantly then would ruin my hard work for someone's birthday meal or Christmas etc. For me thats the difference.

Have you checked your TDEE info etc? I was surprised at how low my calories needed to be, I had assumed around 1200/1300.

RoundandSad · 28/11/2025 00:26

Thanks @SexyFrenchDepression that's a good point about the dosage

Maybe I'll just be a slow loser all along I don't know I suppose it might save my face from going saggy

With the TDEE, yes it's lower than average because I'm short I could have eaten less today and yesterday - I could really feel the dosage wearing off I looked at some of the graphs and it really does taper down incredibly strongly on the last two days

In fact, I actually wondered about the logic of injecting every week but I'll see how I get on with the next dose and go from there. Seems like every five days would make more sense.

I was already losing weight, but only half pound a week so it is improvement

SexyFrenchDepression · 28/11/2025 07:56

@RoundandSad you might find that it speeds up for you soon but its still a decent loss and probably more sustainable than much bigger losses.

You could always inject a day early for your next 2.5mg dose and see how you feel. I definitely feel hungry for the last 2 days but have no huge desire to eat really.

Do you use shotsy app?

TaffyTabby · 28/11/2025 08:58

@SexyFrenchDepression would you recommend shotsy? Do you have to pay for it?

I’ve injected a day early one week, and probably had the worst side effects that week but who knows if they’re related.

@RoundandSad it you’re shorter and lower weight, losing a lb will be more obvious on your frame than someone taller or heavier. I get you though, I am super impatient! I’m trying to notice other signs eg my clothes are already looser.

New starter here. Why do people advise to extract the 5th dose with an insulin syringe. I was given spare needles with my order. Is there a reason I can’t just attach a new needle to the pen?

My understanding is that the new pens dont work after a specific number of clicks.

TaffyTabby · 28/11/2025 09:03

Yes I believe it’s easier to use the insulin needle than try to force the pen.

SexyFrenchDepression · 28/11/2025 09:07

@TaffyTabby yeah its a decent app. It shows the estimated levels and you can log all the side effects plus specific dose if you've gone for the 5th dose so you can maybe see patterns of days/side effects.

Also I like the weight graph as I log in kgs for my PT but they make so sense to me so I can then switch to stones 😂

I actually have a spreadsheet that I plot my weight loss on compared to predicted weight loss so I can see if I'm on track but I do like the app overall. You can link health data from phone to it also such as calories etc.

I paid £26 for the year by mistake as forgot to cancel free trial, I meant to check to see what features were kept on the free version compared to paid.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 28/11/2025 09:12

@TaffyTabbyi use the free version and it works for me - you can see from the calendar your predicted levels and the jabs tab shows weights and levels too.

i have a different weight:food tracker that I’ve used for a long time so don’t need a lot of other info or automatic uploads from apple health.

Ah I see! I have not yet tried to redial it back to 1. I’ll give it a go and see if it works!

could I use the extra dose to top myself up today or would that be inadvisable? 2.5mg hasn’t had minimal effect on me and so I’d be keen to move to 5mg a bit quicker. I’ve had no side effects on 2.5mg either.

Edited

Personally I wouldn't as the advice is 4 weeks on 2.5mg but you could dose a day early each week till you have done the 5 doses out of the first pen? I dont really know what effect going up early would have.

I had quite bad nausea till week 4 but I had jabbed a day warly for dose 2 and 3 to get to the day I wanted to continue jabbing.

Is it only the health info that is on the paid version? I am annoyed I forgot to cancel as I guessed it was unnecessary.
