Having to upload a photo

Just tried to order MJ with Bolt and they ask for a photo! I don’t want to upload ID. Do they all ask for this?

legitimate precribers all have to a) check ID and b) assertain that the person requesting falls within prescribing guidelines.

so yes, they have to.
alternatively you can see a private provider face to face. but those tend to be more expensive.

TootieFrooties · 01/11/2025 13:29

Yes, I think they do. I’ve had about four providers now and every one has asked for a photo. I find it hard because I always breathe in. Confused

Also they usually ask you after you have done all of the paperwork.

You used to be able to have no head but the last one I did you had to have your head in so I amused myself by wearing my DD’s dressing up box wig.

Disturbia81 · 01/11/2025 13:36

Thank god they are… my friend lied and ordered at a healthy weight at the start of the year and injected it all in one go and ended up collapsing with kidney pain.

Mysticmaiden · 01/11/2025 13:44

The one I use also does video consultations and weight and height checks, otherwise anyone can lie and I know a few who have reduced their height and added on stones and put layers of clothes for their photos and been accepted by the corrupt medexpress who don't seem to check anything!

MeridaBrave · 01/11/2025 13:59

Yes they have to ask for photo ID and a photo to check they are prescribing to someone over 18. I have used 2 suppliers and both asked.

i would suggest it was the “injecting all in one go” that was the problem. Plenty of people “at a healthy weight” are using for maintenance. Asking for a photo can’t solve stupidity (injecting in one go).

Oh I know that was the problem. But they’ve had to bring in these tighter rules because of people like her who have an ED and lied to get it.

It’s impossible to inject it ‘all in one go’ if a legitimate dosing pen is purchased - sounds like she bought it from a dodgy salon or similar

katmarie · 01/11/2025 16:06

Yes I signed up with Voy for wegovy, and they require a photo and id to start with, then a photo every six months if you want to continue treatment. Its a responsible approach, and the bare minimum given they are supplying medication to people they've never met.

TheChosenTwo · 01/11/2025 16:06

Coastal you could either just keep winding it up and injecting the whole pen in a matter of minutes or buy a bigger syringe to manually extract it and inject the lot at once.
it would be perfectly possible to inject it all at once if you decided to.

Unfortunately they will never be able to have rules tight enough for anyone who would do something like that. Same way there is no way to stop someone buying a couple of packs of paracetamol/pain killers out a few shops and taking the lot.

Did you report the incident to her GP? They can log on her notes and if appropriate potentially can check in with her for a welfare check - and they will know if any providers inform them they are prescribing it to her. Telling her provider(s) would also be sensible.

Hi yes she told doctors and a&e what she had done, she got it from a genuine prescriber. I don’t know how it works but she did one dose and then the next day injected the rest, then collapsed. She is in a really good ED program now as a result of it.

You can. Would just have to wind the clicks 4 times.

I think she’s having you on. It’s impossible to inject it all in one 😁

TartanMammy · 01/11/2025 18:41

Very normal and good they are asking for this. I've been with many prescribers and they all ask for ID and a full length photo. Some made me video myself standing on the scales. It's to check you are who you say you are and also that you match the weight you say you are.

No it definitely happened.

All the legit ones do. Why wouldn’t you want to?

Well not in one injection, but you could easily inject one dose, then the next, then the next, then the next, all in one ‘sitting’.

FourteenStoneInAday · 01/11/2025 20:01

We Prescribe pharmacy did not require a current photo but did require a photo of my passport.
