Need some advice

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. I’m currently on 12.5 mg, and I’ve just taken my 4th dose. Up until now, I haven’t had any issues eating on this dose I was easily able to reach my calorie goals, usually between 1200 and 1600 calories, sometimes even 1800.

But this week, I’ve really been struggling. I have to force myself to eat, and food just turns me off. I’m barely hitting 900 calories a day maybe 1100 if I really push myself and choose higher-calorie foods.

Would it be better to delay my next injection for a few days, or should I drop back down to 10 mg?

Yes definitely delay it a few days.

Thelankyone · 30/10/2025 14:48

Don’t delay it, the amount in your system will drop making your next injection even worse as it will be a huge hit to your system

if it is as bad as you say, go back down.

I can see your point but when a dose was too strong for me, my prescriber told me to take it every 10 days to reduce the concentration. Considering OP was on the dose for 4 weeks and its only now that it is too strong, suggests either hormonal changes or a build up.
Actually OP when I hit bmi 25 all the doses became too strong suddenly and I dropped from 15 to 7.5mg within a few months for it to be tolerable. Could this be happening to you?

MrsMiagi · 30/10/2025 21:20

I'd drop back down personally. But that is because my long term plan is to be on the lowest possible effective dose. 12.5mg was my max dose and too strong for me

That was poor of them. Very poor and I suspect just to sell you a more expensive pen, having less in your system is achieved by taking a lower dose, not letting it dwindle then you get a massive hit of a dose you shouldn’t be on, and if you did not suffer signficant side effects from it you were lucky, the drug has a half life of 5 days, so it halves every five days, so if on the right dose your peaks and lows are managed smoothly.

that was terrible advice and akin to th4 nonsense on social media and I’d report them,

I've been on it a year so I do understand how the doses work. It was 15mg and I'd already purchased it, it was too strong for me amd I took it the whole month but also had a full one in fridge. Obviously I didn't take it because of the highs being too high, I used it to count clicks to go down doses quickly as I'd hit bmi 25 by this point, so my insulin sensitivity had increased so most of the doses were suddenly strong. I'm now at 7.5mg.
They don't recommend counting clicks as this is against guidelines so all prescribers usually say to take it for less days or more when having issues with dose strength. Its very common.
I've also split dosed before too when it was too strong.

Chinsupmeloves · 31/10/2025 00:01

My instinct says drop down as this is clearly too strong. Xxx

Thinking about the concentration of the drug in your body, you get a peak after injecting which tapers off over the course of a week. Extending the time period means the concentration gets lower. So when you inject you get a big peak again. Like a big sawtooth.
Injecting less at a shorter interval reduces the big initial peak and means it doesn’t reduce as far either. The result is a more balanced, smoother concentration.
So if it were me personally, I’d reduce the dose by counting clicks, and stick to every 7 days.

I think some misunderstanding, I was not refering to counting clicks, I was refering to your prescriber telling uou to take it every ten days as your dose was too high, this was terrible advice.

Which is luckily why I didn't follow their advice as 15mg is a high dose leading to massive highs. But prescribers aren't allowed to advise counting clicks because it is not in prescribing guidelines. Taking it less often does reduce concentration in body though. I have dropped to 7.5mg for a while now so for me it was more insulin sensitivity affecting my tolerance as even 12.5mg wore off for me after 8 weeks which is why I went upto 15mg.
