High ALT on Liver Tests

Been on MJ for 7 weeks. Lost 19lbs so far. Still on 2.5 and I’d say average daily calories are about 1200. I know I need to eat more.

Had routine blood tests this week. All came back ok, except ALT which I’d elevated at 91. All other liver bloods are within range.

ALT was high last year when I was unwell with a nasty virus but it started to drop after a week.

Also a few years ago it went over 100 when I was losing weight, again I probably wasn’t eating enough.

I'm now worried about the new result. Anyone else seen this happen on MJ?

Are you on omeprazole by any chance? (Sorry might be spelled wrong). Or any other meds? Mounjaro is in trials to cure liver disease. However obesity and alcohol abuse also causes increased Alt in liver, when was the last time you were tested?

Hi, yes I am on omeperazole and have been for a long while. I’ve recently had a gastroscopy which showed oesophagagitis. I suffer with reflux.

The last time I had bloods was last Christmas when I was really unwell with a viral infection. Then ALT came back over 100, AST and GGT were also high. I had a repeat test after a week and everything had lowered and ALT was down to 85.

I do drink but haven’t drunk at all since starting Mounjaro at the end of August.

I have known mild fatty liver and am trying to lose weight to benefit my health. I’ve lost 20lb so far. The last time I lost a fair amount of weight this my liver results were also all over the place.

It’s unlikely it’s the mounjaro and more likely the omeperazole and possibly the fatty liver too I’m afraid,

I also had this after being in the meds 6 weeks alt was raised, then had more bloods week later ggt out of range as was ast, stopped for 2.5 months had a scan an repeat bloods alt was only one still high but had come down a lot they did put down to mounjaro scan was fine though

I didn’t realise Omeperazole affected ALT levels. Has this happened to you?
