Hi

started Wegovey took third injection on Thursday. I do have a lot to lose over all. On one hand am really happy with the weight loss and being able to see a difference on other hand concerned why I am losing so much quickly.

Had no side effects, drinking plenty of water, around 1200 calories a day and plenty of protein have increased exercise but not to full level as been busy.

I know this will probably slow down significantly.

Should I be concerned?

You tend to loose a bit more in the first week due to water retention which is flushed out. You’ve also gone to 1200 calories from what, over 2000 so you’ve cut your intake dramatically so that will also have an impact.

I would expect to see your weight loss level out in the coming weeks.

I presume you’ve calculated your TDEE to make sure it’s at level which is safe and slow?

I wouldn’t be concerned but I would be ensuring my calories haven’t been set too low. Even at my heaviest I was around 1500 calories to loose 1 to 2lbs a week.

Ok thanks yeah was aware of first week thought would slow down but did not will try to get in a few more calories based of TDEE and BAR as do not want to wreck metabolism and see how it goes.

It depends how much do you weigh and how much did you lose ?

MeridaBrave · 26/10/2025 14:41

Most of what you lose in the first week is muscle glycogen due to lower carb storage. It’s totally normal. As long as eating circa 100g protein and 1,200 calories I wouldn’t worry about it

If you've got a lot to lose then you are almost certainly not eating enough protein for your body weight if you're sticking to 1200 calories a day. The goal should not be to lose weight as quickly as possible but steadily whilst maintaining muscle mass. What's your TDEE? You should be eating at least 1g protein per kilogram of body weight daily.

TDEE is 2250 at current weight been having about the right amount of protein .

Is this based on sedentary or are you exercising so active?
If this is correct then you should be eating around 1750 cals a day.
At 1200 you will probs lose 2lbs fat a week so in 2 weeks should be approx 4-5lbs. What have you lost?

Edited

Will always be more at the start due to loss of muscle glucogen.

Looks like 1,200 is 1000 calorie deficit a day so expect to lose around 1kg a week.

Yes will be lots of inflammation/water retention loss too
