Nausea - any suggestions

Hello,
I’ve been on mounjaro since mid August and lost 2.5 stone which I’m really pleased with. However I’ve had constant nausea since starting that hasn’t ever stopped, I’m still on the starter dose of 2.5mg a week and still losing but that may be to do with the fact that I can eat barely anything. I’m getting concerned when people talk of their ‘meals’ on mounjaro, all I can manage is water, milk, porridge, homemade vegetable soup and a bit of white fish or scrambled egg. Anything else I have tried has made me vomit. Will this ever end?
I have another 2.5 stone to go so I will keep going but this constant nausea is no fun at all. Perhaps my body is just very sensitive to it. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Camomile tea can really help nausea!

SilenceInside · 22/10/2025 22:08

You could try doing a half dose rather than the 2.5mg? You can also take anti nausea medication, cyclizine is one I have seen mentioned here.

You should ask your GP for anti nausea meds. Tell them you're worried about becoming dehydrated/losing too much too fast.
Metoclopromide is a good one, that's what I take to deal with the nausea.
Mounjaro is a prescription drug so your doctor should be helping you manage any severe side effects.

If that's all the food you're managing you're probably losing weight too quickly to sustain x

Peppermint capsules worked for me. I've lost nearly 5 stone since May.

Ginger is helpful for nausea in my experience. A ginger and lemon tea or ginger biscuits if you can face them.

Can I buy cyclizine over the counter?

My GP surgery had a letter from my private prescriber but I can’t get an appointment for 3 weeks at the moment, according to the e-consult thing we are supposed to use.

Yes, you can get cyclizine on Ebay.

You can't go into a pharmacy and get it.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions.
I tried ginger biscuits but vomited them. Will try peppermint capsules, have seen them in Holland and barrat.

i think I’m also going to half the dose and see how that goes, as I can’t go on like this.

Hit it with either dimenhydrinate or cyclizine.
They always work for me.

You're going to end up malnourished, and pretty soon, you can do long term damage eating so little, try taking 1. 25,? thats not normal to be nauseated all the time even on mounjaro, I have had the odd bout of nausea, over the months but not constant, the weight coming off so quickly because you're feeling sick is not sustainable either.
I used pepto bismol, but I would be worried if I were you.

DBatteryBand · 23/10/2025 06:43

Mint tea usually helps me, but in all honesty if I was feeling very unwell all the time I'd stop taking it. It's not mandatory and there are other medications, such as Wegovy, that might suit you better.

What brand did you buy? Are they peppermint oil?

HansHolbein · 23/10/2025 09:28

For immediate relief, you can take a few sniffs of the alcohol wipes you use alongside your dose when you prep your skin & pen.

IsItSnowing · 24/10/2025 09:01

You can ask whoever provides your jab to prescribe something for nausea. Most of them will give you an online prescription for that as well.
Constant nausea isn't nice at all. It's amazing you've put up with it for so long.

Sorry just come back to the thread. @StrongLikeMamma I get the supplement tree ones

Kazzaa46 · 26/10/2025 01:49

I take an omeprazole a day, I get them from Amazon where they seem to be cheapest. They really work for me and while they’re for heartburn, this can make you feel nauseous even without the acid reflux and any time I feel sick, taking one of these always resolves mine
