Constipation help!

Hi everyone, I’ve been on Mounjaro since January and 7.5mg since May. Recently I had 3 weeks off due to surgery (gallbladder removal) and started 7.5mg back up again a fortnight ago. For the last week I’ve struggled with what I think is constipation, apologies for the TMI but I’ve been going every day but it’s been pebble like and not a full bowel movement. I had an awful time a week post op with horrendous constipation due to morphine so in attempt to not get back to that stage again I took 4 laxido and 2 senna however now it’s went too far the other way and I’ve got diarrhoea but generally still not passing much at all! I never had any problems pre-surgery when on MJ and usually eat a good amount of fibre in my diet, plenty of fruit of veg and I add chia seeds to my yoghurts/smoothies etc.. so any advice to get things more normal and regular would be much appreciated!

Glycerin suppositories, stock up. They changed my life, I put one in. Give it as long as possible (usually about 5/6 mins) and hey presto, all comes out!

Psyllium husk and dried prunes daily

Yes me too.

Can also try magnesium at bedtime
Movicol in water once a day

It is probably more related to the gallbladder removal. It affects the way you digest food and can cause both diarrhoea and constipation. Since your surgery is so recent I would ask your doctor.

Physillium husk daily, without fail! Ideally at the same time of day. If I miss a day, or take late I know about it.

6 prunes eaten as a snack throughout day.

Water

I feel for you, constipation after an op sucks and then on mj sucks too!

Tons of water, tons of prunes (the m&s ones are the best), golden kiwis, raspberries, and the suppositories that you put up your bum.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I’ve ordered the suppositories, physiullium husk and magnesium! I’ll pick some prunes and raspberries up from the shops tomorrow too

I’m allergic to kiwis so they are a no go unfortunately!

It takes your digestive system quite a while to get back to normal after a general anaesthetic.
