Mounjaro HELP - spacing out doses?

I can’t see a thread on this so apologies if there is one and this has come up before.

I took my first Mounjaro dose of 2.5ml on Saturday and the effect was astonishing.

For nearly a week now I’ve had no real hunger pangs or cravings and every day I can make sensible food choices and eat a normal amount rather than stuffing as much high fat and high sugar as possible to manage my cravings.

I’m 16st and would like to get to around 10st.

My question is - should I take the second dose on Saturday or wait until the first wears off? Or is the wearing off very steep? I intend to stay on 2.5 until it stops working too as I don’t want to go up rapidly, is that reasonable?

Also I’ve felt a bit wired and energised this week - is that a side effect? I didn’t have nausea or any other side effects I don’t think.

I’m very grateful if you’ve read this far and have any advice

Just stick to the weekly dose imo. Side effects can vary along the way - there often seems to be a change about 3 weeks in - but I’d always say with a prescribed drug to stick to the prescription.

Seems very reasonable to stay at the same dose as it’s working for you.

I would take your next 2.5mg dose on the scheduled day. That's the advised dosing schedule, and there is no need to vary that at the moment. The medication has a half life of 5 days, so that means after 5 days half of your initial dose will be out of your system. There will be some medication remaining in your system when you take the next dose. That's intended and part of the dosing schedule.

Stick to the correct schedule and yes, stay on it until you can feel it isn't working as well any more - that's when you need to move up. Side effects vary so much - so those could well be - just enjoy the fact its working and not making you ill!

Thanks both. I will do that. It’s an unreal experience isn’t it - it’s changed my life and I only started it on a whim.

It is! I have lost weight before but not like this. Hope it continues ok for you.

I'd stick to the dosing schedule if I were you, and sorry to be a Debbie downer but I was the same initially, euphoric, partly down to the fact that I lost 8 lb in the first week and was very responsive, it wasn't all like that along the way of a 4.5 stone weight loss so be aware, side effects were there at points, stuff like nausea and constipation and I was very sick going up to five, but it does mean I never went above 5 being so responsive, so kept costs down.

I’ve been on it for a year , now at target weight , I’m jabbing every 10 - 12 days now as maintenance , but did do it weekly until I hit target .

MeridaBrave · 17/10/2025 21:00

I would stick to weekly injections.

russiandol · 18/10/2025 12:59

@bugalugs45may I ask what dose you ended up sticking with?
