can I use two shots
of 2.5mg to achieve 5mg? It sounds simple enough but I just need reassurance from someone who has actually done this.

As long as you have done your first 4 weeks on 2.5mg, which your body needs to get used to the increasing dose as it builds up. If it is your first pen I would only take 2.5mg and wait it out.
