Hi all ,
Need Your thoughts and experience on Orlistat . I have been trying to reducing weight and went to gp and was prescribed this . Is this effective . Loosing weight has been an Herculean task for me post my second pregnancy and high blood pressure and migraines . Does Orlistat require strict due restriction as in reducing the fat intake ? I have been given 120 mg so hopeful that it would work for me .

any thoughts and experience would be greatly appreciated !

I was prescribed this 25plus years ago. I became incontinent with an oily smelly leakage. I didn't tolerate it very long and ended up having a gastric bypass.
Today I would go straight to mounjaro, no hesitation

I’d really not want to use that, anal leakage is a thing,it’s not a drug many want to take but really all gp’s can prescribe sadly due to cost.

I looked into this before Monjouro and the stories were horrendous. Unless you can be guaranteed to be near a toilet and don’t work then I decided it was too much of a risk. Decided on MJ and not looked back. Albeit expensive if you can afford it or Wegovy I would do that.

Ive never tried it, but reading about it , it does not sound pleasant at all.. Im sure it may work for some people, but the oily smelly liquid and the need to urgent go and lots of accidents, that puts me right off..
hopefully someone will come along with some good news about it for you, but ive only ever read bad things.

I don’t take it but was offered it years ago. I could t het my head around the point of it. You need to be so careful what you eat, but it doesn’t help with that anyway so if I was able to be careful I would have lost weight anyway - that was my take.

I posted similar a while back. I hated it. Awful wind and toilet trouble. On mounjaro I lost six stone and now on wegovy since price hikes. No regrets! It’s frustrating as being prescribed the Orlistat obv meant it’s much cheaper than injections but it didn’t work so I’m happy I stopped
