Mounjaro 5mg

Hi All. I've just finished my second month of Mounjaro. 1st month I used 2.5mg and lost 8kg, then the 2nd month I used 5mg and lost 2kg. I had my first injection using 7.5mg yesterday. During the second month I had approximately 3 weeks with no loss at all.
I don't want to give up but I'm also concerned that my weight isn't shifting like I expected. I guess I'm looking to read your success stories where you've had a weight plateau.

It’s a cycle, loss, plateau, loss, plateau. I have started in January and lost 23 kg, I had month when I didn’t lose any weight, and the next I lost 4 kg

If you are in calorie deficit you will lose, but there will be times you stall as your body adjusts itself to the medication and previous losses. Increase doses when you can’t stick to your calorie deficit rather than when the scales stay the same.

Exercise is so important. You need muscle mass to burn calories. Every time I've hit a plateau, I have put some effort into the gym and eventually, things get moving again. I have been on MJ since January, lost 25kg and I only just went up to 10mg 4 weeks ago.

The ‘curse of 5mg’ is a well known thing! 😂 It often happens after a good loss in the first month because your body is taking a moment to think about what just happened!!

I would recommend dumping your expectations tbh! Weight loss is not linear and there will be weeks where you stay the same or even gain. Bodies just do their own thing. As long as the overall trend is down, it’s not a problem and losses will slow after the initial speedy drop.

You don’t mention anything about the effects you are getting from the dosages. Did you have increased satiety on 5? Was your appetite reduced? I LOVED 5mg on the way up and stayed on it for 5 months and am now back on it for maintenance.

First month is mainly water loss, it’s relatively common to plateau months 2 or 3 as you adjust your calories . I’ve lost 25 kg since March and have had 2 plateau’s 1 in June on 7.5 mg and one in August (10mg into 12.5, still on 12.5 now), usually after a plateau of 3-4 weeks I have a whosh and the weightloss continues , you also loose less per week the longer you on it and have to make sure you are in TDEE and also make sure you drink plenty of water .

Keep recalculating your TDEE my calories have reduced by over 400 per day since I started in March 2025. I have waived goodbye to over 25kg in that period, had a stall about 6 weeks ago and my maintenance calories were substantially lower than I thought they would be.
