I was on 5mg of MJ for 2 months and then started to get really hungry again so 4 weeks ago I moved up to 7.5mg. I’ve just started my second pen of 7.5mg but for the past two weeks I’ve had really yucky sulphur burps and today, felt really nauseous. I’ve got another 2 doses which I really don’t want to waste but I’m thinking that 7.5mg might be too much for me.

Has anyone gone up a dose and then back down again? Did it help or did you feel hungry?

I did. Moved to 7.5 but felt no hunger at all. I also felt that my blood sugars dropped randomly. I moved back to 5. Feel better. I've continued to lose weight although it has been slow.

Hi OP, sorry you’re getting difficult side effects, I didn’t get the sulphur burps but did get the nausea! I did go up then down again due to medication interactions and side effects after stepping up to 5 mg. I went down to 3.75 for a while counting clicks then later moved back up. I can’t remember exactly how long now but think it was about a month then went back up to 5 and onwards from there and it was fine. I had poor suppression after the initial few weeks of starting but it improved when I hit the high doses.

Splitting doses is something some people do to help manage side effects, I’ve not done it myself but have heard it can help, so maybe worth speaking to your pharmacy about this option. Personally I think I’d be tempted to drop down for a bit and let things settle if you’re finding the side effects really strong and miserable, you might feel hunger like you did before but it doesn’t mean you’ll need to stay down there it just gives your body a bit more time to adjust before moving up again. You don’t need to waste the doses either but can count clicks and/or get sterile single-use insulin needles to draw out the medication. I hope that helps!

Why not do 6.25? I have never jumped straight into the next full dose up, and always stayed as long as I can at the in between doses until it stops working sufficiently. This way I have never experienced significant side effects. I did 10 weeks at 5mg and so far 10 weeks at 6.25mg. I have read about quite a few people who reduce because they find whatever dose they go up to too strong

Hello.
I’ve gone as high as 10 and back down to 5. Ironically after a plateau that seemed like it was forever, I finally dropped another 2lbs. I only have 4lbs left to go. I’m 129 and was a miserable 179. I started last September and been very stable for at least 3 months and stretched out the time between doses too. My massive advice is WATER. I make sure I drink a 1.5l bottle everyday. I open large bottle every morning usually so I know the measurement. Unusually I had some excess gas recently on the lower dose so got some Buscopan, Windeze and Gaviscon. It stopped it anyway. Oh and I try to fast until late morning or later but the water helps as I rarely feel hungry but want the energy. Hope this helps anyone else reading this. Oh and Wegovy was awful for me. Xx

I was fine until I wasn't on 5mg so I dropped back down but the side effects remained. I was utterly miserable so I before I gave up completely I switched injection sites. I went from stomach to top of my thigh and they went away. If you are injecting into your stomach, try a different site. Good luck 😊

Thanks everyone. It’s day 2 since I took my last jab and I still feel really sick and ‘yuck’ today. I’ve had my breakfast and that’s made me feel slightly better but I’ll probably not eat anything now until dinner time. I’ve got to go out today (I’d rather stay in bed!) but I’m armed with Pepto and a large water bottle. Next week I think I’ll count the clicks and reduce back down to 5mg.

It’s so strange that I’ve been on 7.5mgs for weeks and it’s only this week that it’s suddenly started to affect me this way.
