Side effects after extra dose

Hi, I’m wondering if you can help put my mind at rest. I’ve been on MJ for three months and it’s been brilliant, not a single side effect and slow/steady weight loss. On the weekend for the first time at the end of my 5ml pen I used the extra dose - twisted the pen. It was really easy and I kicked myself for not doing it earlier. But I’ve had terrible diarrhoea ever since. Had to call in sick at work. Could I have taken too much? It could be a sickness bug I know but seems strange to get so ill straight after taking the extra dose.

Did you measure it with the syringe? A full dose in any pen is 0.6ml. If you have done more than 0.6ml then you will have increased your dose.

If you twisted the pen to 1 then you should have got the full dose and no more.

Thanks both. I twisted the pen so didn’t use the syringe. Just trying to understand why I'm so ill - but it could be a coincidence I know.

Side effects can manifest at any point. The MJ builds up in your system.

Yes, could be that I guess - thank you

If you twisted the pen to the 1 position, then you will have done a normal 0.6ml dose which from your pen is 5mg of Mounjaro. There is no difference between the remaining liquid in the pen, and the liquid that was used for the previous 4 doses, and you did a normal dose. It's the same as if you'd just started the next pen and done the first dose from it.

If you use a dose tracking app to plot the doses you've done so far you can see an estimate of the levels of medication in your system which can be useful to the peaks and correlate those to any side effects.

It could also be food related. I have had pizza 3 times in almost a year on mounjaro because it also makes me very ill, some react to fatty or greasy foods, some heavy carbs like pasta. Might be worth thinking about what you ate especially if your dose was the standard weekly dose.

I read another post from someone who'd taken the "Golden Dose" straight after taking their regular dose and was then, understandably, very ill with stomach issues, so just checking you didn't do that? The "Golden Dose" should be treated the same way as a regular dose.

No it wasn’t on top of my usual dose - was a week later. Thanks all for the advice - beginning to feel better thankfully and will track dose as you suggest as well as think more about what I’m eating and if that might have triggered it
